Just the US version or also the export verions (i.e. will it comply with the Euro 6 standard)? Thanks!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am new to this forum as I do not own a Jeep Grand Cherokee yet. I have an 04 Touareg v8. I love it, minus the upkeep. However, it is time to replace it, and frankly would have already if I did not hear that Jeep was coming out with the CRD. The new Touaregs are a disappointment in that they removed the low transfer case. Its not longer what the 1st generation to offer in capability. To answer your question. IN regards to your 02 v8 explorer, I would venture a guess that all engine options offered on this would probably out perform your 02 v8. A lot has changed in the last 10-12 years. First, the transmissions offer far more gears to allow even less powerful engines stay within the ideal rpm range for power. Second, modern engines offer direct injection, etc. putting out more power while using less displacement and ultimately fuel. I have not compared the figures, but I would venture a guess that the new penstar v6 probably puts out more power and torque than your current v8. It definitely puts out more power, in the worst case it might put out slightly less torque. That v8 has been around for a while, and I do not think they even offer it in any model anymore, including their trucks. Nevertheless, I would say, if you want to play it safe, get the v8 hemi which definitely outperforms your current model. If it were my choice, wait for the v6 diesel. You will get 30mpg and 400ft lbs of torque. You really cannot beat that.

As far as I can tell, U.S. models only.

Everytime I see that Milous posts something I get a rush of adrenaline thinking it'll be a juicy new tidbit about the '14's. Sadly though it's not always a thrilling detail. Milous, you have just raised the bar so high that now sometimes your posts just aren't up to snuff

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks for the prompt reply Milous. As always highly appreciated! This is one of the features I can live without, would just have been a nice to have as it saves a couple of euros of taxes but it does not impact the joy of driving the GC.

Well, looks like I may have to do something about that! Are you planning on buying a 2014 diesel? If so, are you planning on doing any off-roading? If the answer to both is "yes", then a forthcoming tidbit will be of interest to you .

Hmm, maybe the diesel-engine will be available with an optional factory-installed cable winch?

So far, I'm planning on getting a V8 HEMI but I might do something crazy and opt for the first diesel I ever owned - depending on available features and performance.

Oooh... I want a 2014 with diesel and an 8 speed , QuadraDrive, the rock rails from a TrailHawk, and the interior of an Overland Summit.

Yeah, I know the idea of rugged exterior and luxurious interior doesn't make sense to the marketers, but it makes sense to me. :-D

YES! I am planning on a 2014 diesel and I do a ton of highway driving and quite a bit of driving on off-road and washed out road terrain for both fun and profit! I eagerly await the forthcoming tidbit!

You rock!!!

Let me guess ... QuadraDrive will be standard on US diesel?
