Feel free to PM me these other free ways, bc I've been trying to find a way to tether my iPhone for months! I'm grandfathered in on AT&Ts old unlimited data, but it sucks when all I can use it on is this lil bitty screen.

Check out XDA-developers.com. You can find your phone model and see what's available, each phone will be different. This is more catered to android, not sure what your options are on an iphone but I know it's possible.

The didn't think they could order one and if they did I wouldn't have it until the end of the year. We have 3 big dealers in town so I started working all 3 to get the best deal. Two would only do invoice and were complete jerks when I tried to haggle. I got the third down to almost 2% below invoice (1.75%) and they wouldn't budge anymore, so I went ahead and ordered it. All three local dealers seemed to know a decent amount about the 2014s.

I ordered mine on 02/12 and got an email from Jeep this morning that it was in pre-production and was assigned a VIN. No ship date yet.[/SIZE]
Thanks for the response so it sounds like the best most are getting on ordering is 2% below invoice +freight, tax, tags? Does that sound accurate?

All depends on where you live and if your willing to travel. Some areas are doing Group buys and getting anywhere between 3-6% under invoice. Email or calls dealers in your state if you are willing to drive to get the best deal.

Can the vehicle apps use the wifi on your phone?

I did some research this afternoon on this... Yes, appears this site is one of the clear "go to" sites out there. The downside is that is does appear there is no detection-proof way to avoid AT&T, T-Mobile, etc from determining that you're tethering outside of their own services. You can use VPN approaches and other means which lower the risk (indeed some appear to have gone unnoticed for years, but I suspect they're careful with how they use these 'hacked' tethers). If your network does catch you using outside tethering, it appears most get a warning. More like a slap on the wrist, telling you that you need to use the network's services.

In some rarer instances with AT&T specifically, it appears folks get their unlimited data shut down and are forced to change service plans to one that allows tethering. All their new bounded data service plans include tethering. But alas, you lose unlimited data. Chevy, like you, I'm grandfathered into that plan, which I really value.

I am looking at my past bills to see how often I go over my data limits. I'm wondering if it's actually worth me giving up unlimited data to get the 5GB plan that includes tethering.

Again, will keep folks in the loop here.

On the plus side, I have a better respect for uconnect offering a single session or weekly charge, and not locking you into a year-long contract to be able to create the wifi hotspot.

Am I missing something? Thoughts?
Honestly, not very useful feature. I can imagine somebody using this on a daily basis. Probably more oriented towards people who go on vacation and need ability to stay connected. On the other hand, I can use my iphone as hotspot so personally I will probably never use it. Additionally with 4G phone you can probably get faster connection through your phone anyway.

I live in Northern Virginia and there are many dealers in the metro area. Are you saying just start mass emailing or calling them all and I may stumble on one doing a group buy? Sorry for my ignorance on this I have never ordered a vehicle before always just bought off the lot in the past. Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I believe there is a Group Buy for the DC area if that works for you. Otherwise start emailing dealers around the area. Tell them what you are looking for, how soon you are looking to buy, and that you have sent emails out to other dealers working the same numbers. Affiliate program can get you 1% under invoice without trying. Some will play and some won't. Try to get the best deal that works for you.
