Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I just saw some '14 and the interior 'metal' trim with the black interior certainly has a copper tone to it. The metal trim with the indigo/brown (versuvius) leather has the regular silver trim. That's a relief ;-)

It looked Black - in fact, you had to look at the Black chip to see the diff and then it was only about 1/2 a shade. I showed him the example of Granite Metallic on the Jeep website and he said, "That's a completely different color".

That makes zero sense to me. If you only offer 5 colors in the Summit, why make two of them almost identical ?

I asked him about the possibility of changing the order and he didn't seem too excited about it so I didn't pursue it. They never asked for a deposit from me to order and he very nicely told me I was under no obligation to take the car when it comes in. So, I guess I'll wait until it arrives and have a look see.

For those of you considering the Cashmere Pearl, he had one there - it happened to be sitting next to a 2012 JGC White Gold - the pearl is about a shade lighter than the WG - less gold in it - it looked kind of blah.
Ok, if granite is too dark, how about the Billet Silver? I kind of warming up to it, specially after watching this video of a Wrangler

I like the billet silver - very nice, but it's not offered in the Summit model.

For the Summit, all you got is black, charcoal black, white, red, and a washed-out yellow.

Billet silver, 1st opinion, BLAH. I think I would prefer either of the other 2, bright silver or mineral grey. Billet just looks dull.

Does anyone know if you can charge an iPad off those USB ports?

You mean the rear usb ports? I would think so. All USB ports have to follow the USB standard, which means data + power.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The question is whether those ports (and I seriously doubt it) will give enough power to charge an iPad. iPads are power hungry.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Would the 110v outlet work with a normal charger?

Correct...probably not enough to keep you using it. But even though your iPad says "not charging", its still charging...just very slowly.

I plugged mine into an older laptop USB port overnight and it gained about 35% battery.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I could've sworn I read somewhere that the rear ports were just for charging and didn't carry data to anything.

Also if I ordered off just the Jeep site and wanted Granite based off that picture I'd be pretty pissed when I showed up to pick up my GC expecting to see an off white color and getting something that's a very dark gray. I am however ordering Granite as I really like the REAL color not that horrible version on the site.
