Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Yeah, the iPads require 10 watts... Around 2.1 amps to get a decent charge. Would be great to know what those ports are rated at. Fallback is the 110v outlet I guess...

Someone go plug in their iPad in their new truck for me....

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

From the options pricing thread there is a link
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Vehicle Options
that shows the pacific blue color. Anyone know of another place that shows this color, and it's availability, besides late. I like it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The USB battery charging specification requires the physical ports themselves to be capable of handling 5A of current, but the specification limits the maximum current drawn to 1.5A.

Since when has Apple cared what someone else's specs say?

Nope... 2.1. Still well over the 1.5. Oh and a normal PC USB will only put out about .5 amps.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Now that I think of it, the iPAD's connector isn't USB...it's Apple's 30 or 19 pin connector. Not surprised at all that it requires more amps than say an android tablet/phone.

Stupid Apple...

Uh the other side of the charging cable is USB, how would the 30pin make any difference?

Saw black interiors in both Limited and Overland at Cleveland Auto Show this past weekend. Interior metal trim had unmistakable copper tone in both. Very attractive in my opinion. No indigo blue/brown there unfortunately.

Also saw billet Limited at the show, again very attractive. Much closer to bright silver that to mineral gray. Looked at billet on other models at local Chrysler/Jeep dealership but didn't care for it. Looked much better on the 2014 Limited in my opinion.

Also saw a Max Steel Dart at the show. Artificial lighting made color appear very similar to indoor pictures of it shown on this and other websites.

It doesn't have to meet the spec because it isn't usb all the way through. Apple was basically pissed they lost the firewire/usb war so they designed everything meeting the IEEE1394 (FIREWIRE) spec and changed the plug. They then pissed off every user on the planet by constantly changing the pinout on the 30pin plug...all in the name of forcing allegiance to the Church of Jobs...
