Scanned this from brochure I got at the Cleveland Auto Show. It shows an abbreviated nav output on the 7" EVIC screen. Evidently this is one of the customizable options for the screen. Very cool!

Does anyone (somehow) have an idea when Jeep will post the 2014 JGC configurator online?

Just curious. Thanks.

They have arrived in Canada! Saw a black limited sort of up close today. It was on a transport truck. Just 1. The rest of the vehicles were Rams and 300s. Looked very sexy.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have never had rain sensing wipers. The owners manual says "Use of Rain-X or products containing wax or silicone may reduce Rain Sensing performance." For those of you with rain sensing wipers, does going through a car wash with a wax spray noticeably reduce the rain sensitivity?

Not at all. In fact I use Rain-X washer fluid and it has had no effect on the system. Once you use it you will never want anything else.

Thanks.

Many years ago, I used the small bottle of Rain-X liquid on my windshield. It worked great for a while and then the windshield developed a film that glared terribly at night. Does the Rain-X washer fluid cause a film like that?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Finally saw them in person as well. I loved the Overland in Brilliant Black and most likely this will be the order. The Billet Silver was hard to decipher with the strange lighting - I wish it was not on the pedestal so I could see it better and also get a better look at the light frost beige interior. From what i could tell, I will say the light frost beige interior looked better to me than the MY13 - I felt it looked very cheap prior.

The leather on the Limited with Lux II package seems of the exact same quality as the Overland leather. Might even be practically the same seat without the Overland badge on it. I don't think you'd be missing out on much getting the Limited versus the Overland strictly based on interior look and feel. Of course you don't have some options and there's not a leather stitched dash but in regards to whether you feel you'd be missing out greatly with the Limited w Lux II interior versus Overland the answer IMHO is no.

I loved the EVIC and all the adjustable screens. The UConnect felt very fluid and I didn't notice any feelings of having glitches. Lots of nice adjustments and settings through the Nav screen for things like how long the headlights stay on after turning off the car, whether you want the horn to sound when you lock the doors, etc. Sometimes these are dealer customizable features so it's nice to be able to adjust them yourself.

I felt the seats were a bit flat in the past and they still are but they feel more forgiving and comfortable to me now. Maybe they haven't changed and I was basking in the glow of the new car. The leather felt of a higher quality as well. The black Overland was the only GC there with glossy finish wood and it looked nice in person. I was worried I'd wished it was open pore. The copper accent trim is nice in person and not as overt as in pictures. Maybe not my ideal tone but it is decent and maybe feels a touch more upscale and less industrial.

The rear seat was smaller than I'd remembered. Don't get me wrong, it's adequate, but I remembered it being more spacious back there. I like the amount of recline in the back seats a lot. Much better than the Touareg I've been comparing with the GC.

I think my mind is officially made up - Brilliant Black Overland CRD with Moroccan Black interior, Limited slip, engine block Heater, and I think I've talked myself into the Advanced Tech package as well (though I doubt we'll use it).

I'm not sure the Overland step up over the Limited is worth the money if you don't care about the slight exterior differences, etc. I felt the standard headlamps looked better in person than in pictures as well.

I came in expecting a lot and came away really, really impressed. I was obsessing and spent A LOT of time in and around the Black Overland - just has that "wow" factor. A LOT of people were gushing over it. Jeep did a really nice job on this refresh.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Husker4theSpurs, was this at the Cleveland Show? I was there yesterday. My wife and son saw a lot more of the show than I did. I couldn't tear myself away from the Jeep area.

One comment I'd like to make. I agree with all of you who like the stock Limited headlights better than the hid lamps from the outside, but I've had hid headlights for the last 6 years, and I don't think I could live without them. Of course I'm 63 years old, and my night vision isn't what it used to be!

Yessir ... That's where I am I thought about hiding in the back of the Jeep so I could sleep in it the Jeep people kept stopping by to see if I needed help and then were annoyed that it was just still me obsessing over the GC.

Thanks for the observations -- did you drive all the way to Cleveland from Lincoln???!

In regards to the Black Overland... this is one I'm considering as well. My wife really likes Black -- I'm still torn as I loved Mineral Grey and not too keen on either of the new silvers.

My question -- what do you think the Black would like look with the light frost/brown interior? I am a bit worried the brown dash would clash really bad with the black exterior. Plus the beige floor shows dirt so easily... Maybe it would be better to step down to the limited and get the black/beige? I know Jeep had several Black/Indigo combos at a few of the auto shows -- but again, I think that would clash.

Something about black on black on black on black (etc) just is too much for me. I like the contrast of different ext/int combinations...

let me know your thoughts!

Color choices are yours ... errr ... your wife's.

At first I was concerned with the brown dash (indigo blue/brown interior) with my max steel paint. Then I remembered a friend of mine has a very dark grey Silverado with a brown interior and it looks good.

Since you will have carpeted mats, I wouldn't worry about the carpets getting dirty. Not matter how dirty the mats get, they clean up in about 5 minutes with some soap and a pressure washer. I do mine a few times a year while washing the car. Of course they take a couple of hours in the sun to drive.

Have fun deciding.
