Call me old-fashioned or "archaic", but my experience (albeit limited) with electronic parking brakes has not been pleasurable. Before I'd be sold on something like that I'd prefer to be comfortable with their reliability and serviceability. As far as I'm concerned we have far too many nannies and gadgets as it is with most vehicles today.

Regarding the GM heated washer fluid, the manual indicates that for proper function of the system that a de-icing washer fluid must be used in the winter months. My Duramax has the system (never let the dealer 'fix' it after their silly recall) and it works fine for me. Actually, I've found its best application is cleaning off bug splats :)

I agree. Although I don't find a handbrake lever to be adding to the aesthetics of a car/truck's center console, it seems to me that it remains the most straightforward setup, and it still allows it to be used for one of its original purposes, which is emergency brake system in case of failure of the main brakes.
With "emergency" and "brake" in the same sentence, I like to keep things as simple as possible, reducing potential sources of malfunction.

Since we are waiting we maybe have time to ask some questions which came to our minds when thinkng about the information we received yet.

When thinking about the interior changes I was wondering whether the upper part of the steering wheel would still be partly wood in the overlands. Marlon, Chevy can you share with u what you have seen?

I also asked earlier whether the Wood inlays in the dash could be exchanged between the 14 MY and previous model years? I really liked the black olive wood but I think I will not get in the overland with Indigo interior (which I really want). As my wife hates wood in a car I may need to change that. I think we could seetle for black olive ;-)

Here we are less than two weeks from order banks opening and nobody has any information. If I believe my dealer, who I've dealt with for years and has always been reliable, they don't know a thing. We don't have colors, option packages, we haven't even seen an official picture yet. All I see on TV are commercials for the 13 GC.

I can't imagine how they are going to open order banks on January 8 unless Milous' tidbit meant February 8.

This is like a stealth product launch. Incredible.

#4,588 ·
The order banks opening date is primarily for dealers to have cars in stock for the sales launch. GM used to (maybe still do) give the dealers a list to choose from and an allocation number. They wanted the dealers to have an assortment on the lot at launch. Could it be that Chrysler is doing the same thing?

We're all waiting to order, but aren't most cars sold off the lot these days.

the 2011 launch was the same way folks. Without JeepGarage NONE of you would know anything until the 14's hit the lot.......and thats the way 99% of 14' buyers are!

But salesmen and dealers are always so helpful & only want what's best for me.

Scottina,
What is the exact color of your Jeep in your picture? I haven't seen ANY around here that color.

#4,596 ·
Agree, I love it. Unfortunately it won't be around for 2014. Oh, you can get a nice cashmere Summit for 2014 though.....:banghead:

#4,598 ·
I am convinced Cashmere is a conquest color for people coming from Toyota. They too have that same milky poop shade.
Deep Cherry CRD Limited or Overland would be nice for me but the other half does not like red cars at all :slapfight:. Would also go for True Blue although that looks a little too close to my dearly departed Patriot Blue WJ. Bad memories :(

#4,597 ·
that pic of the cherry red was taken really late in the vening with almost 0 light. Check my build thread in the SRT forum members gallery for sunshine pics

#4,599 ·
True Blue is way darker than Patriot Blue.

I currently own a MY05 and am very interested in the MY14 so the wife and I went to start looking at other models today to have an idea of what is available and to see the Jeep Overland MY13's. One thing that we are wondering is will Jeep be increasing their bumper to bumper warranty in the MY14 to be more competitive with others? Cadillac (4/50k w/maintenance), Buick (4/50k), Acura (4/50k) and BMW (4/50k w/maintenance). To me the quality and look and feel of the MY13 Overland we looked at matched or exceeded these other brands and we thought it was odd that Jeep hasn't increased their warranty coverage. Any good news potentially coming on this front at the Detroit auto show?! :)

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to bring this up, but here goes.

Finance.

Jeep could really get on the front foot here in Australia with low finance backed by Jeep. Currently the banks will make a car loan at approximately 6-7%, meanwhile the European and Japanese carmakers are doing finance deals at 0.5%. Jeep is missing out on a massive amount of sales because it doesn't offer finance at a competitive rate. When I asked the dealer said 8%

Maybe Milous or some of the Jeep boys on here could give the suggestion to their bosses of cheap finance to launch the MY14 in Australia.

Out of interest, what rate is finance available in the USA for a GC?

I don't think it is that simple. But I agree the financing of other car companies is really pushing their sales. I mentioned this before if you finance a vehicle it is actually just slightly more expensive to drive an X5 than a Jeep GC although there is a much wider gap between the sticker prices here in Germany.

But to give you an example. I understand from my dealer that the Fiat Bank currently offers 0.9% financing for the 13 GC but the dealer can give you less discount if you chose this offer. So it is acutally cheaper to take the full discount the dealer can give you and use another Bank (also arranged by the dealer!) with 4.99% financing.

Long time lurker, 1st time poster here. First, thanks for all the info on the 2014 model year. I have been waiting a long time for the 8sp and penstar v6 combo in this ride. I have a question regarding the paddle shifters for the 8sp. Will the grand cherokee have paddle shifters like the charger and 300m or will it have the buttons on the steering wheel like the 2013 Ram? I prefer the paddle shifters vs the buttons, they seemed right where they needed to be when I test drove a charger. Also, will someone be able to post the order sheet or options sheet (whatever Jeep calls it) when it becomes available?

The only person that will probably be able to get that information is Milous but he has been silent in here all week. We are hoping he comes in with some information be the ordering banks open for those of us that plan on ordering when the banks open.

Im guessing that Australia's economy isnt in the shit hole like ours here in the states and that is why your interest rates are so high.

Does anyone recall the post where someone (I think it was Chevyboy) said that something was engraved/etched/painted/written/scrolled on or in or around one of the headlights?

I don't remember seeing the final answer to that tidbit.

My wife got sick of waiting on the 14. We just picked up a ford edge limited awd 6k off sticker .9% for 5 years. The seats and tech are a huge leap forward but it lacks a nice leather dash and true 4x4 capabilities.

Im still holding off on purchasing my lifetime warranty for my 2011. I may trade up if the final version is sexier than what we've seen.

It was very interesting to drive something even newer than my 2011 and deviate from shopping for something "trail rated". I didnt think we would ever own a crossover but it does have its perks and is perfect for my wife.

That's not true. It's just a mind game to make you think that way. They are a VERY manipulative type of creature.

I wonder what 6K off sticker is equated to invoice $$ but that's a great financing dealio! That'll give her something to drive & she can leave your vehicle alone so she doesn't wreck it!
