Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wow, I think I will skip the RA4, and save the $400 it costs. I have free lifetime updates from navteq for my portable Garmin.

You would get the $400 back on resale, so it is more a matter of wanting top notch built in nav that you may need to update a couple times.

I'm going for it just because I don't like leaving anything of value, even out of site, in the car... that tell tale round smudge on the windshield resulting in an involuntary GPS donation...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Not only that, if you change your mind in the future and decide you do want the Nav built in, you get the inferior version with the RA3 and there's no way to upgrade the unit to a RA4 after initial build.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Regarding the upcoming rear DVD Blu-ray system...

Front seat video playback is not available.

The video screens do not operate independently, they both play the same video

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Now I don't feel so bad about not being able to get it. I hope that I can unlock front video playback with a lockpick.... Doesn't it also replace the center console CD player?

Is the only source for the rear seat entertainment the CD/DVD player in the console, or can you read video from the SD card?

If there were hopes of having each monitor operating independently, where would be the second source?

AFAIK, the system also has a HDMI input - so that would be a potential source.
