Any ideas if the rearview video system can be added on aftermarket. I know there are other options but the way this one folds into the seats is very slick.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I just purchased the 2014 Jeep GC Limited. I would like to know if there is a way to change the mirrors and door handles. Is there a way to have the door handles painted or changed so they are not chrome. The door handles do have the sensors in them for the easy access. I was thinking of going to a Body shop or powder coating place....any suggestions?

If you wanted to add them later, wouldn't you also have to change the seat backs?

I had the mirrors, door handles, and fender flares on my '02 Chev 2500 Crew done by a body shop soon after I bought it new. It was very common back then to get done. Shouldn't be a problem but won't be cheap!

I was just on jeep.com and makes you add lux2 package with the diesel. Now the diesel costs $7500. I was seriously considering buying one but now I don't think I will. Why do these companies have to get so greedy?

Pretty sure the sensors are on the back side of the grab handle. Should be able to mask off the sensors if needed without any problem.

Might just be a site bug... There are several issues with that site still. Give them a week or two to work out the bugs.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Finally got to check out the '14 in person.

First, gotta say, it still is a handsome vehicle despite our own valid debates about the pros and cons of various refinements. Well done Jeep.

Second, the most common thought was that Chryco was listening to this board at JG via all our most popular mods to the gen1 WK2. See the lesser chrome both fore and aft, lack of side mouldings, sharkfin antenna, dual v6 exhaust, improved dash visibility, darker wood interior trim, folding mirrors, etc. Well done Jeep Garage.

Third, the new dash instrumentation and new AV screen are absolutely kick arse. I hope the 8 speed has similar impact, but did not have a chance to ride the pony so no comment. I did not care for the button initiated electronic console shifter when test driving a C300, and it still looks a bit odd in the '14 JGC, though one may get used to it in short order.

Surprises: I actually liked the roundish/Durangoish rear end upgrades more than expected, but was disappointed that the tail lamps added more chrome surrounding the reverse lenses and that the rear Jeep logo is roughly 15% larger than the 11-13's (I may not have noticed the logo but it is chromed and I'm a we don't need no stikin badges kinda guy). While I still don't like the smiley winged grill or the funky Overland headlamp finish, the front end looks much better than photos, and the Limited/Laredo headlamps with blacked out reflector housings are sharp. Thumbsup to the 10-spoke 18" wheelset that looks like the outline of a 5-spoke SRT rep.

There were a ton of 13's on the lot and more 14's than one would expect in early March. We all win. Go get some of any flavor.

I'm pretty sure that they make you bundle because they are offsetting the diesel with the higher margin built into the lux package. I don't think it is a bug.
