Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The 6.2 is a rumor isn't it? Is there any solid evidence that shows they are developing the 6.2 for future SRTs? The 6.4 can handle low boost say the engine experts.

Yes.....there's tons of evidence. The 6.2 Apache will be available on the 300 and charger in 2013. It's been in development for years

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What's the point of the 6.2L anyways? Are they trying to provide some nice middle ground between the 5.7L and 6.4L?

Someone who knows should probably provide the info but I believe it's because the 6.2 can handle more boost.

I believe this is right.
The smallest change in stroke can easily change two tenths of a liter spread over 8 cylinders.

I'm interested in hearing the S/C. If they go with an Eaton, it might be barely noticable.
I saw a photo recently with an Edelbrock, not an Eaton on a hemi.

I think that's correct. Since the 6.2 and 6.4 would be based off different blocks or something like that. Which are based on the 5.7 and something else. I forget all the details. Anywho, both the 6.2 and 6.4 would handle factory boost without issue. Unless they plan on higher than 6-8lbs. Something like that. I'm no expert, just going from memory and past discussions.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I think the next question on everybody's mind, regarding the 2014 updates, is something to the tune of...

Will any of the changes be able to be adapted to any of the '11-'13 models (ie; fascias, lighting, radios, gearing, etc.) as bolt-on's, or bolt-on's w/ minor mods and function correctly??

If so...they (Chrysler) could introduce a whole new "UpFitter" dept to Dealers, possibly thru the MOPAR side...for existing owners who want to keep their current Jeeps "up-to-date" and covered under warranty.

...I think a lot a people would be interested in such a concept & it would keep resale values up as well!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

the 6.2 will have more deck height and allow thicker piston sleeves for the FI'ed engine....

Thats why you dont see anyone supercharging a 440

So the 6.2 is going to based off the old 6.1 but the 6.4 is based off the current 5.7 right?

Josh... I mean smoove, were you standing across from us at SF7, I thought I saw you? Pete, RS, RG and I were all having drinks outside the DT later Sat night, I know Pete took a few pics. Dave from LXF was also nearby. Who is Bruno, isn't he tied in with one of the 300 LX or Ram forums?
