I'm a sucker for owner's manuals. From the 3rd printing of the 2014 manual;

"If your vehicle has a discharged battery it can be jumpstarted
using a set of jumper cables and a battery in
another vehicle or by using a portable battery booster
pack."

I heard it had something to do with the color of the lower moulding, plus the chrome used on the 14's sets up some kind of negative ion field that completely blows the electronics when it's jump started - and it's NOT covered by warranty.

I think what happened is that the dealership just bought a new tow truck and they have the best rates in town!

If you can tell red from black and know the difference between a "+" sign and a "-" sign, you'll be good to go.

Pretty much what I thought. Just worried jumping might do something to the warp drive.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I thought I saw in the manual they actually have posts setup under the hood specifically for jump starting. I think your salesman may be full of hooey...

Yes, there are posts under the hood for jumping. You can't make a vehicle like this and say it can't be jump started.. You could but you wouldn't hear the end of it from users and the media.

I carry these Michelin cables with me - doesn't matter how you connect them, and they have built-in surge protection: Michelin Smart Jumper cables for easier jump-starts | The Car Tech blog - CNET Reviews

If battery dies place owners manual DVD in the vehicle DVD player "late availability" follow instructions or warranty is voided.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know about this "feature", but my salesman showed me that there is a little tray built into the top of the glove compartment to hold the user's guide etc. Seems like a good idea.

Very true - that would be like building an SUV without flipper glass! Oh, wait...

We all know that is the true reason why the CRD is delayed... Supplier issues with the exclusive flipper glass now available on that model only.
