My 2014 Summit V8 doesn't have any hole in the belly pan whatsoever. So I would need to remove the entire belly pan to change the oil & filter, which for me is no big deal as I stated above.

Wish I could buy one of those Bob but they don't sell them any more, all the ones being sold now have the holes.

Dealer said the earlier production 2014s got the belly pans with covers the ones being produced today do not have them. If you have an 11-14 with the cover door on it and you break your belly pan and order a new one it will have a hole in it when you get it. This is according to the Jeep dealers not me. Belly pans are cheap I would have gladly bought another one, point is you cant go out and buy one with out the hole for the V8
My service rep said that the new pans may not have the hole, "but just because you bought a '14 Jeep, doesn't mean you get '14 parts".

I have look around at several dealers they all tell me the same thing. So if you see them for sale with the cover doors let me know I would like to order but from what I have found there not out there unless you find it used somewhere.

I'd gladly trade the belly pan for a GC that operates consistently from day to day. Noticed today that the side mirror puddle lamps don't turn on when unlocking the vehicle.

Bill_de,
How have you found your Overland. Is it living up to expectations? Did it look better than when you only had pictures to look at.
Us Aussies are still waiting to see these cars in the flesh. That is still a good two months off. Are we going to be blown away when comparing it to the MY13. A couple on this forum have advised it is definetely worth waiting for the MY14. Do you agree.
Also, I am sure other Aussies following this forum would like to hear more personsal reviews from "real" people rather than professional reviewers.

I can say the 14 Summit is excellent! I have only two small issues with mine. There was a little rattle near the sunroof and found out there were two clips that weren't snapped. So we snapped them it is solid up there and I am pretty sure rattle will be gone. The other one is the front right wheel flare, they missed some two sided tape at the start so it is slightly pulled away. It is going in next week to get fixed. Those are the only two small issues I've found, I could go on and on about how excellent it is. For the HEMI, I am averaging over 17 mpg in the first 1220 miles which includes some idle time because of the cold and snowy weather we have had the last 3 weeks. It is getting stronger as it gets broke in. I really think they limit the power the first 500-1000 miles. I followed break in instructions but can tell it's coming ALIVE...

Yes definitely worth the wait for the 2014! I almost bought a 2013 last fall and then at the last minute started researching the 2014s and very glad I waited. I think the Aussies will be happy with them. I have had mine for 2 weeks and the only minor nitpicks I would have is 1. The howling sound the cheap bargain basement Goodyear tires make at medium speeds. My last car did the exact same thing when it was new, get rid of the crappy goodyear tires and it goes away. 2. and of course the hole they are leaving in the belly pans now. Both are small gripes and overall the truck is excellent and well worth the wait.

So the bottom line with the hole in the belly pan appears to be something we have to live with? I don't have my Summit yet but it seems it will have the hole and from what everyone says, dirt, salt, snow etc will collect there? Nice!!!

That is my conclusion and I have asked 3 separate dealers about this and researched a good bit. so unless you can locate something used sounds like we are stuck with it.

Silly that it is missing. But if it bothers you (it will me) you can find a local fab shop to make you a cover.
