Personally I think the Laredo will be the biggest surprise to many, especially those who have their sights set on an Overland or Summit. It's more of a canvas to personalize than the others. They give you a lot more to work with this time around. As I've said before, even the base Laredo has some character now..
Can't stand chrome either. The new Laredo looks absolutely great.

But honestly, I doubt it will be available on the Laredo. But ya never know.. Maybe Marlon or Milous can confirm or deny that for you.
See above.

...

Again, guys, remember, these are pre-production models we are looking at, and talking about here. They are not representations of future models, no matter how close to production they are.

Is it the "one touch 911 access"?!

Happy Day

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Makes sense as any option/feature is just a checkbox on the computer program. Different models are just different option groups.

Back in the day of IBM punch cards at GM, some options were not available with others - you did not want an a/c with a 4.56 rear end for warrenty reasons, took an override to do that - so often the combination of holes in the card required was not possible

Today seven different engines each with up to four different transmission choices do not exist. Chrome mirror covers vs plain does. Just figure if you outfit a Laredo with the same options as a Limited, it will cost more than a Limited.

Agreed.. "Reduction" gearing would be a good fit. I've been thinking something along the lines of regenerative exhaust technology like what's used on semis to clean the DPF. However I doubt a passenger car could withstand the heat that's needed to make such systems work effectively. That and most semis with regen systems don't use Urea. Didn't see any '14 CRDs in Assembly yesterday, so I'm in the dark abt either of their "tidbits." But again, think DIESEL ppl.. (And nE-zE.)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

As everyone seems to be missing at least one of the hints in their responses, lets recap:

* it has something do with off road usage (post 1002)
* it seems to be specific to the diesel model (post 1002)
* NO other vehicle has EVER had it from the factory (post 1013, 1051, 1053)
* incorporates a switch, knob, or control (post 1096)
* first letter is somewhere from N through Z (post 1017)
* second letter is an E (post 1052)
* it will be available on both US and export models (post 1141)
* is NOT a camera system (post 1056), or a larger fuel tank (post 1054)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This is on the 6.7 Cummins to eliminate DEF: To meet such requirements, the 6.7 is equipped with an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system, a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), and a diesel particulate filter designed to reduce diesel particulate matter by more than 90 percent. A new, higher-pressure version of the Bosch direct injection system is used.

This RECIRCULATOR would be diesel specific however it was mentioned earlier that the US diesel version would require the use of DEF (diesel emission fluid) UNLESS Milous just found out about it. Also this has been used in the US before but maybe Milous didn't know about that either.(?)

I guess that's my best and final guess on the whole issue but I don't know how a dial or knob (from the last hint) would have anything to do with it.

I give up, I'm going to just buy a Kia Sportage instead.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I don't think we are even close

Maybe time to ask another question on the new electric architecture. I have a webasto parking heater in my 300C and what annoys me extremely is that I have to manually adjust the air flow and temperature before I leave the car in order to make it work properly. Other makes recognize the parking heater and make the necessary adjustments automatically. I understand that the current GC has the same issues like my 300C. Will the new electric architecture change this issue by any chance? This would be a huge step in my opinion.

SCR has been used for several years now in the US? SCR uses DEF?

But only available on the diesel? Not sure why that would be the case. I suppose it's possible. Wait, why am I posting a response again? I just bought a Kia Sportage 30 minutes ago so I don't even care what the "tidbit" is.
