Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So the sd card... Is the nav on it or can I just load some songs on a fresh one? Any idea if songs have to be mp3 or wav files?

You supply your own sd card, and load all your favorite tunes on it. Couldn't be simpler. Check out the sd card thread for all the details. I know mp3 works. I have mine encoded in wma, and that works fine.

2014 sd card capacity?

It looks half finished and one only wonders what other items that we can't see, that have also been eradicated. As I continue to peel away the layers of the Grand Cherokee and gotten over the initial excitement at it's unveiling, a closer inspection has brought forth items that concern me. Things that make you stop and say, "Wait a sec.." For example, no height adjustment on the electric tailgate, U-connect issues and silly missing covers. Not the least that brand new cars are sitting in 'Final Inspection' for weeks and lack of real color choices at the top.

As one that is trying hard to like and wants to purchase a Summit, I can't help but feel that all Chrysler/Fiat has done is put a higher quality makeup on this pig than before. I wish I felt differently...
I hear what you are saying but honestly the Summit is a great truck I am very satisfied with it, fit, finish are excellent I have no issues or problems and I have been over it pretty closely in the last 10 days I have had it. yes dumb move on the $5 belly pan cover door thing but if something minor like that is the worst I have found I am happy. not real impressed with the goodyear tires they put on but I will put better ones on when the time comes. Take another look at it its a very good truck.

That is a very good question and I thought that I explained that I really want to like this vehicle. Actually it's for my wife and we are the need for a vehicle. All over this forum the threads are buzzing with issues that quite frankly, are scaring her (and me) away at this time.

We want this vehicle to succeed. My past experience with Chrysler has not a favorable one, but I was willing to give it another try. My last Jeep was in 1988 so it's not like I haven't been in the family despite the fact that a large portion of my family works for GM.

These were my thoughts and personal observations. This after reading, studying and driving it. That's why I prefaced it with the word :editorial

Maybe it's not so much the vehicle that's the issue, but the support structure in place. I expect issues to happen, but how the issues are handled are just as important to me as the iron in the garage. If I was shelling out the cash for a Kia, my expectations would be at a different level. Like I stated before, the JGC is approaching a different league and playing field.

I am not getting a warm fuzzy based on what I am seeing (or reading) so far. Can it change? Absolutetly... I voice my displeasure so that maybe some good can come from it. You have the right to ask me why I am here. I also have the same right to ask you as well... I believe we are all here because there is an interest in this product. To pretend that it is flawless is disingenuous and not reality. I have seen enough forums where the fan boys have run of the place and are blind as bats. Of course, I do not think that of this forum and I feel comfortable express my opinions, pro or con...

Sorry, for the long winded banter...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Like I said, no disrespect meant. But if I felt the way you do, I'd be looking at other options. I don't think a forum is going to make you like this vehicle. Probably quite the opposite. Generally speaking, forums tend to accentuate the negative. A lot of people come here to commiserate, and find solutions to problems, so you'll probably get a lot of negative slant. There's a fairly large group here who have just ordered, are about to order, or have taken delivery of a JGC. I suppose you could call a lot of us fanboys because we are. After all, when you spend 30 to 70 large on something, you've got to be a bit of a fan. If you peruse forums of other makes, I'm sure you'll also find a lot of griping about problems, that's what forums are for. They're kind of user help lines. When I say my new JGC has been flawless so far, I say it because it's true, not because I've put the brand on some kind of pedestal. I'd suggest that if you're interested, go test drive and see if you're impressed enough to consider purchasing, then test drive and compare other models, then make your decision. I don't think any forum or message board will make up your mind better than that. And, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Visit any forum dedicated to a particular make or model of veh and you will find that they "all" have thier various issues. Remember, that out of the thousands of vehs sold of any particular make and model you are reading posts and comments concerning very few vehs in most cases. Many people will comment/rant on things that are really non-issues and easily resolved if you think about it. You just have to keep a proper perspective about what you are reading!

Man up and make a decision instead of reading all the forums and the 1% of people who have had MINOR issues. There are tons of people who are enjoying their vehicle and are having no issues,,THEY AREN'T ON THIS FORUM.

Sorry, for the long winded banter...
I think your points are valid. I like my Overland, but the types of problems that seem to be popping up are disconcerting. Yesterday, if you looked at all the warnings on my dash you would think my car was ready for the junk heap. Most things stilled worked properly, but losing the speedometer and a few other functions was disturbing.

The fact that everything decided to work today doesn't make me feel better. When I called the dealer yesterday to make an appointment the first thing the guy said was that if I was driving on the beach the warranty wouldn't cover it. I know that's not true, but it speaks to the support system. Needless to say, I won't be going back to that dealer.

I am a little apprehensive about the ability to get this diagnosed while things are working. For now at least I have lost some confidence in my Jeep.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have to agree with most here. If I only used forums to make up my mind when buying I'd never buy anything. Go demo one for yourself look it over real good and make your own choice. Hell I don't even think I would have bought my mower if I listened to online advice. . Warranty is there for your protection and most issues will be fixed quickly if you do have them. This is my 2nd jeep product after my 2012. Even though I've seen a few minor issues myself I'd still highly recommend.

EXACTLY. Prior to leasing my 2010 Nissan Maxima, I joined Maxima.org to learn about the vehicle I "chose" to see if it is worth it. Prior to my wife purchasing her 2012 Outback, I joined the outback forums to do the same. In both forums, I weighed the pros and cons based on the small user percentage on the forums knowing that in some cases, the issues are major and could affect my decision.

Forward to now, I've decided when my lease is up and my need to upgrade to an SUV arrives, I am 99% certain it will be a MY14 JGC Limited. During my "waiting" period, I am learning the good and the bad in the new builds on this WK2.5 update. My biggest concerns were electronics base which seems to me are getting addressed with the UConnect updates. Otherwise, all other issues (for me) will be on the build quality which I won't know until the day I inspect my new car.

So, take everything with a grain of salt because everything you read here are, for the most part, subjective. What bothers one person, such as the belly pan hole, may in fact not bother another. But these forums DO include "fanboys" who are more or less, JEEP(car) enthusiast who take pride in the vehicle they own.

end rant...
