Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I don't have to man up as I am not shelling out the $$$ ..If it were me, I would have a new vette :^) .

Then again the SO doesn't want to wait 8 weeks to get a car.

Actually I (we)have driven both the 6 and 8 Summit. The test rides were fine(although limited).

I (we) also have driven the x5, ML350 and SRX. Yes, the Jeep is in a class by itself..there is nothing like it. But The X5 is a better blvd cruiser. Then again, I would never consider taking it off road. Different strokes... Oh, and the cost differential, while substantial, is not as high as some numbers I have seen being thrown around..

However, I do appreciate the feedback. She was ready to sign after the Detroit Auto Show..But we haven't yet seen a high enough positive to negative issue ratio yet.

Now if you will excuse me...I am trying to locate a White Summit, Brown interior, Hemi that doesn't have a damn CD player (another snafu) within a 500 mile radius.....

Generally speaking, forums tend to accentuate the negative. A lot of people come here to commiserate, and find solutions to problems, so you'll probably get a lot of negative slant. There's a fairly large group here who have just ordered, are about to order, or have taken delivery of a JGC. I suppose you could call a lot of us fanboys because we are. After all, when you spend 30 to 70 large on something, you've got to be a bit of a fan. If you peruse forums of other makes, I'm sure you'll also find a lot of griping about problems, that's what forums are for. They're kind of user help lines. When I say my new JGC has been flawless so far, I say it because it's true, not because I've put the brand on some kind of pedestal. I'd suggest that if you're interested, go test drive and see if you're impressed enough to consider purchasing, then test drive and compare other models, then make your decision. I don't think any forum or message board will make up your mind better than that. And, good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I currently own a BMW 535xi and I am days...maybe a week away from getting my grand cherokee summit. I love pheasant hunting and was tired of my buddies giving me a hard time when I would show up with my sedan and drive in the middle if a field. The BMW was my first sedan in 8 vehicles. I test drove a SUVs made by Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, almost bought a land rover, a q7(that was a quick no), an Acura mdx(another quick no), and on a whim I test drove a 2013 overland on my way home. I have to tell you that after my jeep liberty purchase (6 vehicles ago) I did not want to consider a jeep again. But after driving the jeep overland I was sold. The air ride suspension is amazing. The quality, finish, options are top notch. I have to agree with jacko15, don't knock it until you have tried it. I thought a jeep was going to be a step back...instead it is a few steps forward.

I believe the Grand Cherokee is the only Jeep that Consumer Reports "recommended" (ever) and IIRC Liberty is one of their worst

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Noticed this morning that the cruise control on the 14 goes down to 20 mph. I didn't think on my 12 it went below 30 or 25 maybe? Not sure if its a new feature or something with the advanced tech package. Welcomed feature though for coming into the neighborhood that has a 25mph speed forever.

Agreed, so much nicer than the liberty. Another reason I went with the grand cherokee is the consumer reports ratings. It did not receive the best scores in the past, but Milous and Chevyboy and the other hardworking people at Chrysler really worked out all the kinks. I could have bought anything and I went with the jeep. I like the styling, the interior is beautiful. The mpg and feel of the new trans I really liked. Here is the consumer reports reliability slide:

My last Jeep wouldn't set below 30. The new one, without the advanced tech, will set a 25. I use it all the time as we have long stretches of road posted at 25 mph, apparently designed to finance all the local police departments.

Mine's the same. Live by a State Park w/11 miles of 25 mph. Love it!

Us Aussies are still waiting to see these cars in the flesh. That is still a good two months off. Are we going to be blown away when comparing it to the MY13. A couple on this forum have advised it is definetely worth waiting for the MY14. Do you agree.
Also, I am sure other Aussies following this forum would like to hear more personsal reviews from "real" people rather than professional reviewers.
I had looked at so many pictures I think I knew what to expect ... mostly. This is my first GC and I never really followed them, so I'm not making comparisons.

From the inside out, the Indigo/Brown is better than any of the photos shown.
The Maximum Steel was just a little disappointing until the sun came out, then

The ride, comfort, and quietness of the cabin are far superior to the '11 MDX I traded. The seats seemed a little stiff at first to the point I always took my wallet out of my pocket ... but either they have softened, or I have.

It has all the power it needs, and then some. It performed better than expected on the beach.

I've had too many new cars to get excited over any of them. But, when I'm walking toward it in a parking lot I do seem to smile. I already decided that this will be the first one in a long time I will probably keep for five years instead of 2-3.

So, yeah, I'm glad I waited for a '14.

I think the pictures of your truck makes me want to get my Limited to be in MaxSteel instead of TrueBlue (unless I go Billet Silver or white )

Maybe, just maybe, your behind has finally conformed to the seats or the seats have conformed to you - check which has the indentations, you or the chair

Luv reading posts like this. Quite a good description. Thanks to other guys who posted comments following my request too. I hope Robo_70 is reading because it will be worth the wait Mark if you can hold on....and thats from a similar perspective, bill_de also turns his cars over frequently.
Any more guys out there that can give/relate their personal experiences about the MY14...I am sure others on Jeep Garage would luv reading it.
