Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Does the '14 JGC's steering wheel lock when shut down. Mine doesn't seem to, but I haven't tried turning it very far.

Just checked ... No. I didn't expect it would since there is no linkage between the shift lever (toggle switch) and the column.

But maybe if we search the EVIC we'll find a setting for that too.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I haven't posted for a while but now as pricing has been announced for Germany I thought I would share this information here. Probably most interesting for people from Europe, in particular Germany, but I think it is also interesting for people from the US to see how the product is priced elsewhere. Prices are Euro (1 Euro = 1.3 USD)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

For those that have the 2014, can you tell me if there is any sun glare or wash out on the Nav screen during bright days?. I saw a few pictures online that suggested there may be reflections on the gauges and/or Nav screen.

Thanks

Only reflection that bothers me is the stitching on the dash. Hadn't noticed it before a member here mentioned it. Now I can't unsee it!

I think OEM's are getting away from the wheel locks for some reason. I remember when I got my 04 sierra I thought it was odd it didn't have a wheel lock on it. Might be because the shifter is locked now without the brake being pressed so they don't need it anymore. Seems to be the norm now at least from the later model vehicles I've had.

The nav screen does get washed out at times. But, the pictures you are seeing were probably taken with the door open. The tinted window glass, as light as the tint is, helps cut that down.

Personally I find the actual map on the nav screen useless. So, I normally turn the screen off an work with the turns showing up in the speedometer area. I find the nav system itself to be very good.

I agree with above. Nav is OK but map is useless, just to slow and prefer to use Google Maps. Love the traffic announcments and turn by turn directions in EVIC area. I would prefer GARMIN nav but ... not an option.

White stiching on my Indigo interior pissing me a little bit - thinking about getting Sharpie and doing the needful. Even on cloudy days I can see it. Wouldn't be suprised if they change color of the stiching on MY 2015.

Now I feel really bad about bringing that up. I hardly notice it myself anymore.

I really wish there was a TILT function built into the NAV screen like my old 2005 Toyota 4Runner had.

Each press of the tilt button incrementally tilted the screen about 5 degrees and allowed me to angle the screen for the best viewing angle. There were about 4 or 5 positions available from fluch with the dash to about a 20 degree angle.

It was VERY useful and prevented any issues with Glare.
