If it is truly the tailgate, the hinges need to be loosened and repositioned. If the fascia/bumper cover is the problem, then it has to be repositioned.

Unless you have some experience with this, let the dealer take care of it. This is one of those things that sounds easier than it actually turns out to be.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Chevy says it is actually the bumper and not the tailgate that needs adjustment.

I remember on my 2012 Overland the first few times I drove it thinking I did a crappy job cleaning the windshield and kept missing the same spot. Then I realized it was the dash stitching reflecting in the windshield. It took a while but eventually the brain learns to look past it and gets used to it. Well at least it did for me.
My 2014 Summit with the black interior has black stitching so it doesn't reflect at all.

On mine, as I stated elsewhere a few times, the entire liftgate needed to be moved to the right. So my dealers service manager sent it to a body shop because he said those things can be pretty tricky to adjust properly. I spoke with the owner of the body shop and he said they had to remove a couple of the inside panels to get at the adjustment bolts and then moved the liftgate to the right a bit.

CHECK OUT YOUR SPARE TIRE!!!

I was a little startled to see my spare tire was a 245/65/18 Khumo Solus KL21. My Limited with ORA II has Michelin Latitudes 265/60/18. After a little research, come to find out the Khumo is the same diameter of 30.5" as the Michelin (the important factor) but the tire cross section is .9" narrower than the 265/60/18 and the tread width is 1.5" narrower. This is done as space & cost saving measure in the spare tire storage requirement no doubt!

My previous 2012 Overland and now my 2014 Summit also have the Khumo 18" spare. The 20" won't fit in the spare tire space without the spare tire cover sticking up an inch or so.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So you are saying your Summit has 20" tires but the spare is only 18"? That must be fun if you have to use the spare with one corner sitting lower than the others?

If they could get away with not having a spare to save the weight they would do that like some auto makers.

The diameter of the TIRE is the same.

18" spare wheel...tire diameter is about the same, it's just a taller sidewall on the spare.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Guys, you have all gone quiet. Come on....fire up. It appears our AU Overland CRD's and V8's will get Quad drive II as standard.
How good is that feature. This will be my first Jeep but having watched videos of Quad Drive II the way even one wheel will pull you out of a bog or up a rock face when three other wheels are slipping seems like a "must have". Even if no off roading it would be comforting to know that you almost cannot get stuck anywhere with this feature....is that right?
