How good is that feature. This will be my first Jeep but having watched videos of Quad Drive II the way even one wheel will pull you out of a bog or up a rock face when three other wheels are slipping seems like a "must have". Even if no off roading it would be comforting to know that you almost cannot get stuck anywhere with this feature....is that right?
Ditto, confirmed by dealer to me on Friday as well.......whooo hoo

So I have been thinking about how many potential sales they have lost and was wondering whether a) anyone knows how many cars they could have sold ? And b) how does that compare to other brands ? And c) does anyone from Jeep HQ really care ??

On another note, do we have a representative from the JG who could meet with the new CEO and have a little heart to heart ? ...... Some thoughts for a Sunday night

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

It seems that up until now the only reason for lost sales is lack of capacity. Every month the order banks here get shut down when orders reach plant capacity. Right now the dealers have to wait around another week before ordering again.

Maybe this is just dealers filling inventory so as the weather gets nicer and people start walking through their lots they have something to sell. More and more folks, I've done it with my past 2 cars, wake up in the morning and decide to buy a car. Often that new car is in their driveway the same day.

I have Quad II, and although my only off road so far has been ocean beaches, it held its own, even with the crappy tires Jeep provided. Once I get the tires changed I'll be more confident taking it further.

Nice to here from you. Starting to think everyone over their had packed up and gone home. Quad DRIVE I take it (rather than Quad Track). R U a Jeep convert or have you had previous jeeps. How do you find the performance and luxuries of your MY14 compared to previous vehicles. Over here we are still waiting to view in the flesh and all hoping this car is going to look better than the pictures and particuarly over the MY11 to MY13......and now that you have your My14 would you consider a Q7 or X5?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

QuadrDrive is what I should have said. This is my second Jeep. I had an '07 Liberty which is obviously not in the same category. I have said before, it was 100% trouble free.

I come to this Jeep from an '11 Acura MDX. The MDX has a great AWD system and lower stance. It handled better on the road, but had no off road capability. Acura fills the entire 8" screen with the map ... a big plus. I also miss the CD/hdd ... progress

Aside from that, the Jeep is equal to or better than the MDX, at least for me. I like the stiffer ride and higher stance of the Jeep. The Jeep feels like a more solidly built vehicle and has a much quieter cabin. The features are abundant, many of which will never be used once I get done playing with them.

Power is all I could ask for. The eight speed transmission gets the job done. IMHO, it is nothing to gush over. Turning Eco mode off around town is a must. I usually start my day in Sport mode which shuts off Eco. I would prefer a conventional shifter. When progress means you have to learn a new way to do the same thing, progress fails.

Looks are a personal thing. Most SUV's look pretty much the same to me, even the Jeep. None are beautiful, but they are utility vehicles, so that's OK by me.

Would I consider another brand ... sure. When it comes time to replace this I'll see what's out there.

THANKS Bill_De
A good appraisal. I need to study the MDX to make a comparison. Googling the 2011 model it appears nice but prefer this Jeep. I think the looks of the MY14 are up there with the best of them. You say it is "nothing to gush over". That disappoints me a little because I am hard pressed to know what looks better. What type of vehicle would you "Gush" over and what price would that vehicle be "to bring on the Gushes".
Will check back in the morning. It's now 8 minutes past midnight here and I am off to bed. Good night.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

It was the tyranny I said is nothing to gush over. Not that there is anything wrong with it. I don't find it to be any smoother than the 6 speed I came from.

As for looks, there is no suv that would sway me on looks alone. I chose the Jeep for the performance I expect. There are minor things, like the fake washer panel under the headlights, that I don't like. But, I think the GMC looks good with it's big chrome grill. Like I said, appearance is strictly personal.

I really loved the '65 Chevy Impala 2door fastback.

Acura and of course Honda vehicles have never been known for having a quiet cabin when going down the road.
