Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Looking at the installation instructions, you are supposed to place the guards over the lower portion of the door sill to protect the paint. Wouldn't putting mounting tape on the paint ruin the paint you are trying to protect??

Not at all. It's no different than applying clear protective bra material directly to the the paint. It's done routinely and won't harm the paint.

Either way - I would think the wiring would be similar to some extent?

but hey, they're both SILL GUARDS

So, which one is which? Door sill guards(inner) and sill scuff guards(outer)?

The wiring (plug and play) is most likely already there under the original inner sill plate that says JEEP. Is it really worth $150 for the the "JEEP" to be lighted? These inner sill plates are more decorative than functional.

The stainless steel accessory sill plates are to protect the painted outer door sill area. The front door SS sill plates are long enough (15.75") to actually offer some protection. The rear door SS sill plates are only 5" long and offer minimal protection.

The inner door sill guards actually comes with extra wires to connect from under the steering wheel console. I agree there is no point in the lighted sill. I actually have the outer in my current Maxima lease-used a lot during winter. I probably will install the not-lit outer scuff guards once I get out of my lease and into a '14 JGC come fall. I can feel my tree-higher ecologist side breaking out once I get the truck lol

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am a little confused on headlights.. I thought all the 2014's have the headlights with the LED's around them.. but was at the dealer on sunday (they are all closed on sunday here, so couldn't ask) and seems only the overland or higher gets those? Not a major thing.. just curiousity.. i have picked out a limited i want but can't seem to strike a deal with the dealer. No idea which headlights it has, as i havn't seen it in person..

If you want the LED's on a Limited, you'll need to spring for the LUXII package... $4k MSRP

Just an FYI that the LED DRLs aren't the only thing you get with the $4K LuxII Package:

(* reason I'm getting this)
  • Automatic High Beam Headlamp Control
  • Automatic Headlamp Leveling System
  • Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps *
  • Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof Nice Extra
  • Nappa Leather-Trimmed Ventilated Seats *
  • LED Daytime Running Headlamps *
  • Power Tilt / Telescope Steering Column *
  • Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers
  • Uconnect® 8.4A AM/FM/BT/ACCESS- with 6 Month Trial Included.
  • 8.4-Inch Touch Screen Display
  • GPS Antenna Input
  • Integrated Voice Command with Bluetooth®
  • NAV-Ready. See Dealer for Details
  • Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror w/ Microphone
  • SiriusXM Satellite Radio w/ 1-Yr Radio Subscription
  • Ventilated Front Seats

Also know that with LuxII, the RA4 Radio with Nav can be had at $400 IIRC vs RA3 +$600(?) to have dealer enable the Nav later. The ONLY thing I wish the LuxII had was an AutoDimming side mirror on the passenger side - you'd have to get the AdvancedTech package for that

X2!!! The upgraded, perforated leather seats w/ventilation are very nice to have! You also get the easy entry/exit feature with the power tilt/telescoping wheel.

The luxII Pkg (AHN) ($3560 inv cost) and Uconnect 8.4AN NAV (RA4) ($356 inv w/AHN) are highly desireable packages to have on a Limited.

The Uconnect pkg gives you an upgraded "HD radio", upgraded 3D nav mapping, Sirius radio, auto dimming rear view mirror. 1 yr paid subscriptions to Uconnect and Sirius.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Just returned from Colorado. Overland needed to get some mountain air. Nothing challenging but a mild off-road adventure. The Off-Road 2 height was great in rocky areas.

Very pleased with our car (8,200 miles in 7 weeks)
