Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I finished the article and removed the "constant".

The SmartBeam system that Chrysler offers is more than enough for me. It would eliminate the inconvenience of turning OFF the highbeam but at the same time... I'm so used to it that it doesn't matter anymore.

Yes sorry, was agreeing with Marlon and reading the actual NTSB rule and history. Key legal issue is the "switch" apparently.... They have an issue with the driver not being able to turn off the high beams which I would too.

The Chrysler system works beautifully IMO.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Exactly my point, so why is anything else really necessary?

Some vehicles are just going too far these days. I'm starting to think the Liberty and Dart are gonna be with me for a long time.

... I just need to solve the lack of heated mirrors on the Dart. But does that really matter? The Jeep has them for when they're most needed anyway.

With that said, when I first started driving, and learned how to use cruise control, I said "Hmm, it would be nice if it adjusted by itself." So it's not like I'm scared of new technology... but an automatically adjusting highbeam is just... (loss for words right now.)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I think if we could truly order just the options we want, many would go by the wayside from lack of interest. How many owners of vehicles with a sun roof would opt out if they could? That's just one expensive example ...IMHO

All 3.

Screw all this self-driving crap. Last I checked, we were supposed to have flying cars by now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I Have the auto high beams on my 2005 JGC limited. I have to admit I have been very happy with the system. In fact I don't think I would want to do without it ever again. The auto high beams and rain sensing wipers A1 in my book.

+1... for sure, not sure I like the idea of not being able to control them at all though (see my post prior about stadium lighting)

In my 14, I can go into settings and turn off auto high beams and they work just like the old way, the stick then just becomes the on/off switch on a regular system.

I discovered this this morning when the auto headlight option was disabled randomly, so I blinded everyone before I noticed the high beams light.

Not to me.

I love the sunroof in my 2012 Overland and use it all the time here in Southern California. I have the old "standard" sunroof and not the panoramic one.

But I do see a LOT of people in vehicles with sunroofs that usually don't have them open (even on great days). Of course, there are a lot of folks around here with more money than sense.
