I used to say the same! But having lived with the built in with my Maxima and the portable Garmin in my wife's Outback for the past 3 yrs, I can't say I'd buy a car without it (for now). I supposed the convenience of the Nav System being integrated in the voice commands has been great and those last second detours in uncharted territories where you don't want to stop to set up the Garmin (trust me, there are a lot of areas in NJ you don't want to stop at lol).

Now if someone can confirm that the RA4 includes lifetime OTA updates would make up for the $4/500 premium over buying a portable system (I know Garmin has lifetime updates available for @$100)

There is a yearly fee to update the navigation maps.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Ok I'm sure this was discussed early on in this thread and I missed it although I don't know how. I know the Overland comes standard with a tow package, but since it comes standard with QL does it have the self load leveling shocks?

QL does the load leveling, I talk about it in my little review and how it responds to loading

Way better than just rear load leveling!

My bad. It is not a "yearly" fee. There is an "update fee". It was $149 per update the last time I looked.

Any source on this? Most have wondered including myself as we've heard free OTA may have included map updates too

Navigation.com a.k.a. Navteq is the map set supplier. Same as garmin.

It would be awesome if uconnect did include updates, would be about the only thing worth the $20/month they think they'll get for it.

Doubt it though, that is a lot or data to try to push OTA.

Correct. Over 2 gigs without the entire POI database.

I figured as much. The Maxima I'm turning in at years end for the JGC costs $149 for nav update. I like the Nav for sudden detours but have been using Waze app on my iPhone 4 for navigating since its also traffic based-go figured-free app over $3k package option lol

I would typlically update every other year. I have yet to see pricing and info on the update, but it is possibly a downloadable update and may have some cost savings due to this, that however is unconfirmed at this time.

My brother. He has Uconnect on his Chrysler 300.

This one might be for the top dogs Chevy, Milous, Scott, Marlon etc. This is purely an export to Australia question.

The tow hooks can't be fitted to the Australian GC because the holes don't exist for the brackets to be connected to the frame(?). My question, is it the frame that these holes exist on the US version or is it possibly a part that can be purchased separately from the US and swapped out. Thus allowing the tow hooks to be fitted to a Australian GC?

Thanks for taking the time.
