How common is it for an auto manufacturer to add a new item during a model year run? Just wondering since this addition really seems like an a-hole move to me. Not to mention the package costs the same with and without the stop and go feature

Very common, I see major part change ups all the time (relating to option changes). I will say 2 major feature changes is a little rare but I have seen it. In the older days they simply became the .5.

Cool, but I wanted to give him a hard time that mine wasn't D1 yet.

40 years ago they would have called it a 1974 1/2.

True, I was being lazy I guess. My father had numerous and a 1/2 cars. You are complete correct though as .5 is actually a very new way of putting it that arrived with the computer generation.

Lately that doesn't seem to be a big issue. There have been vehicles built and complete assembly before they technically hit D1. Never seen anything like it (and certainly others who know this stuff better than me have commented on this). Chivvalry, the fact yours went to pre-release means it should get built very soon. I see vehicles in that same plant that were D1 before some of the CRDs went in and those CRDs are built before the other vehicles even touched the line. Just craziness if you ask me.... But good for you of course.

I had something like that happen with the TSX I traded in for my GC. Bought the first model year and it didn't have heated mirrors but the same year RSX had them. They of course added them to the TSX next year. Ticked me off every morning I had to scrape the ice off my mirrors in the winter.

That's exactly how I feel. They could have at least announced when it was going into production.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Everyone, think of a conversation that we were having in this thread a few months back. Now, look at the first engine option listed for the 2014 JGC on the Mopar website (I have attached a screenshot of this below). Looks like Milous was (unsurprisingly, but impressive nonetheless) right on the money!

But that was the next model year that they added them to the TSX which can be expected model year to model year. What tics a few of us off here is that its the same model year 14. Just a couple months after buying they add a feature like that that we didn't even know that we could have got if we waited a month or so. wasn't advertised as late availability like maybe the rear entertainment was just quietly went into production. So it may "just happen" but a few of us here are not to happy about it.
