I'd prefer that they really focus on basic hardware reliability instead of fiddly electronics and software interfaces. Being able to tweet that my Jeep won't crank isn't a selling point.

Wondered about it when I test drove a Pathfinder yesterday-interior is similar to my '10 Maxima and asked myself how much I'll really miss the 8.4 UConnect should I go with the '14 "Mallfinder."

Hearing more social media integration, which seems will be the next wave of tech in cars, leads me to think there will be more distraction whilst driving. Second child on the way has forced me to rethink my wants vs my growing family's needs.

No loaners and reliability issues is starting to weigh heavily on me as decision day nears-we can't afford to be down a vehicle should there be an issue with the GC should I get one-the expense for a rental is not welcomed either.

I honestly think domestic manufactures should have free loaners to ease the buyers minds with regards to reliability issues-I mean, why don't they? I buy a $45k car, it breaks down, takes a week or longer to get fixed, and I'm forced to pay for a rental?

Soon we will be able to drive down a busy highway and text while checking out our Facebook wall, and enjoy a latte while thinking about everything except what's in front of our 5,000 lb. vehicle. I don't know about GM, but our Ford dealer doesn't offer loaners either.

Do Toyota and Nissan? Or Kia? I'm sure Lexus, BMW, Infinti, etc. pretty much all do. But not sure about those "non-luxury" brands.

Not defending Jeep et al, but the primary issue here is you have a dealer that's making their money off of volume, off of Darts and Minivans, not the higher margins of the higher end vehicles.

Pretty sure the entire point of having the offshoots like Lexus and Infiniti was to focus on the "luxury" buyer, to market to the high end.

The others are the bastion of the $149 lease rates, folks looking for basic transportation on the lowest budget possible, which doesn't leave a lot of room for margin and "luxuries".

Obviously we have expensive cars at the normal dealers, but the dealership isn't built around those more exceptional sales compare to the normal traffic that they get.

The domestic companies were consolidating, Mercury is gone, Lincoln is being pushed in to the Ford dealers.

Rentals aren't "free", the folks going to Lexus and Infinit pay for those luxuries, either in margin on the vehicle, or perhaps higher labor/parts costs. The lower end brands and their clientele simply can't afford to give those away, and they can't wash the expenses away on their customer base.

Now, Chrysler could step up, sponsor rentals in the exceptional cases that we've seen here. But for a generic stay of a few days for warranty service, no, don't see it happening.

But this is what happens when you get a $65K SRT from the same place selling the $18K Dodge Dart.
