Plant is running. :p

I think that was my first guess as to what the Pilot Build was.

If I'm right, do I get a prize? I could use a new de-coder ring for all the tidbits on this site.

I saw an article about the Hellcat going into the Challenger for Detroit Auto Show, but can't find a thing about anything new coming out for Jeep. Anybody have an idea of what Scott seems so excited about?
The Hellcat is going to be in the 2018 JGC SRT. Milous confirmed it isn't going to be in the WK2, and the SRT model always comes out a year after a major refresh (next major refresh coming in 2017, so the SRT should be out in 2018).

Also, according to Milous, the Hellcat will come out at the LX Springfest on March 22.

I would much rather have a V8 than a turbocharged or supercharged 6 cylinder. Even though the HEMI technically isn't a real HEMI, it is still a great engine. What can the ecoboost do that the HEMI can't, and does GM even have a turbo-6?

However, I would rather have a supercharged V8 putting put 640-680 HP (numbers estimated by Allpar) than a N/A V8, or basically anything. :D The Hellcat will allow the Challenger to compete with the Camaro ZL1 and the Shelby GT500, while it will allow the Charger to be in a class of its own and the JGC (eventually) to destroy everything in its class as well. A JGC with the Hellcat is potentially faster than the upcoming Lambo SUV, which will undoubtedly cost 5 times more. It will top everything else by over 100 HP (at least for now, maybe not 4 years from now).

From Milous:

"Hellcat" world debut March 22nd at the 9th annual LX Spring Fest in Irvine California, then April 16, 2014 @ the NY Auto Show.

Post 2 still lists lane departure warning as one of the 2014 features. But later posts seem to indicate it's unlikely to make it in until at least 2015. Did it just never get removed from the post, or has there been a change in plans and it may go in the 2014s?

Question:

How does everyone feel about Sterling Heights Assembly Plant helping JNAP with overflow production of OUR Jeep?

#12,390 · (Edited)
From a consumer's perspective:

I would much rather have my Jeep built at JNAP, given that JNAP is the plant that is SUPPOSED to be building the JGC in the first place. I don't trust that the Jeeps coming out of a factory where people aren't used to building them will be as good as the Jeeps coming out of JNAP. Also, what did they have to do to be able to build the WK2 alongside the Chrysler 200? It doesn't seem like the machines (and people, as I have mentioned) would be equipped to build the WK2.

Now, (an attempt at) thinking from the perspective of a JNAP worker:

I probably would not like another assembly plant to be taking over part of my job, however, if it was that or being worked into the ground, I might rather not be worked into the ground (that depends on pay ;)).

Marlon, does it take any of the load off of you guys? Maybe it is better that Sterling Heights builds some so that you guys aren't run into the ground, but that is something that only you guys working at the plant can answer.

Two body shops and assembly carriers that can fit both vehicles is all that is necessary assuming the plan is similar to Belvidere Assembly.

MANY a day I'd be sitting there on pins and needles on the dock.... maybe 20 parts on the line and guess what, I see the trailer (KC Transportation #120484, tee hee) pull up and I had JUST enough time to unload the trailer so The Line® can keep running!

#12,403 ·
BTW: We built the vehicles to be used in the auto shows today. :)

Are they 2014MY or 2015MY?

Also, anything interesting that you can share without getting reprimanded? ;)

#12,405 ·
I'm just happy they're not being built south of the border! :slapfight:

#12,407 ·
Toluca is busy enough building Journeys and 500s.

#12,413 ·
I don't know what the heck was going on with those, it was during one of my night shift days and nobody was around to pester. :p

#12,418 ·
VIN Character #1 is the Country Code, 1=United States 3=Mexico.
VIN Character #11 is the Plant Code, C=Jefferson, N=Sterling Heights, T=Toluca

So

1C4RJFBG2EN455632

Would be a SHAP built Grand Cherokee

1C4RJFBG2EC455632

Would be a JNAP built Grand Cherokee

With the way sales are with the GC I'm sure they're having to look at other avenues of keeping up the with the GC demand. I still think the Durango production should be moved to SH. The GC's homeage beagn at JNAP, why not make it a plant solely for a vehicle that is obviously a big hit for ChryFi. It would also give the plant one vehicle to focus on.

MY14 Laredo CRD Rear Park Camera Installed (Melbourne, Australia)

Photos of Jeep newly installed camera day and night. Night time was with no other lights except camera and reverse lights.

Any opinions please. My opinion is that it could be better both day and night but it is a help anyway.

Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep etc claim they have a high tech piece of gear in the MY14 should look at other small cars half their price to see a far better quality rear camera.

They call it a SAFETY CAMERA
Haaaaa.

2015 pilots are running down the line if anyone was wondering.

I don't see any visible changes.
