2014 Grand Cherokee Heavy Duty Cooling Package in Aust.

Hi All,

Hope you can help out as I cannot get any answers from a number of Aussie dealers.

I am looking at buying a 2014 GC CRD and I have been told that the Australian versions come standard with the Heavy Duty Cooling Package, as I already have a ute set up for towing I am curious to what this Package is supposed to include, tranny cooler, bigger radiator, etc ?????

We tow a 2500kg caravan and are concerned that things might be get on the hot side, especially in summer without the appropriate extra cooling.

If anyone could assist that would be great.

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Heavy Duty Cooling Package in Aust.

I asked this question earlier in the year and apparently the radiator is somewhat bigger, with evidence pointing to the different fluid capacities. However, the Heavy Duty Cooling option is not sold separately here but rather part of the Tow Package, which also adds bigger brakes (larger caliper brackets on the front and vented rotors on the rear) and a more powerful alternator.

Ask in this Aus towing thread

The Towing thread

It does include the larger breaks and tranny cooler, not sure of what other cooling items there may be.
Many have mentioned their loads similar or higher to yours that have no issue.

I believe you only get the bigger brakes with the Hemi, possibly the CRD too because it shares the same towing capacity. However if it comes with 17" wheels it defiantly doesn't have the bigger brakes.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Heavy Duty Cooling Package in Aust.

In Aus we only get 18" and up.
The V8 and CRD automatically come with the pack that includes the bigger brakes, transmission cooler etc...
The petrol V6 does not have the option for us, so has the lower tow rating.

The 2011-2013 Australian petrol V6 has the larger brakes - not sure about the rest though.
