Ha.

Did you find out what kind of fees those dealers that offered a decent amount below 2% under invoice are going to be charging you?

That's what I'm hoping...by next winter the CRD coming in a Laredo

Yes and it would still be more than 2%

It's been my experience with diesel passenger cars that the residuals are lower than on gas counterparts. It's incredibly frustrating because kbb and nada both under value our diesels making it impossible to get fair values on trades, too.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Tell you what though, e-mailing dealers is a pain, so many of them clearly didn't even bother to read the e-mail. For one, I specifically stated no phone calls at this point (the contact form on almost all the dealer websites requires you give your phone number), only e-mail since I e-mailed a bunch of dealers and didn't want to be inundated. Well lo and behold quite a few of them ignored that and called, left messages, and sent texts. Good thing I setup a Google Voice number specifically for this purpose, as I was anticipating it would happen (I disabled the ring).

They keep sending e-mails too, most of which are the automated sort or things like "so when can you come in for a test drive"?

Not all of them were like that though. But a lot were.

When I went to dealer sites and filled out the form, I put in there that I wanted email. For the PHone number, I made a generic but used my actual area code...920-999-9999

Maybe it's the area you live in.

Here, the Diesels generally demand a premium price. Jetta TDI's and their Audi cousins are often priced a few $k over their KBB values for example.

It's gotten better as more and more of the little VW diesels hit the roads here, but, used, they are still pretty pricey compared to the petrol ones.

The Diesel Jeeps (if you can find one) are hideously pricey in the used market. Last time I looked, a 2 year old used CRD here was almost as much as a new petrol version (was a couple years ago).

Probably both books, but I know for sure that NADA bases their values on data from dealers, not the other way around. They track the resale prices.

Yes; I do. There must be too many cherry customers in my area that just walk in to dealerships ripe for the picking, 'cause the dealers around me simply don't want to negotiate with a well-informed customer - probably because it takes up too much of their time that they could otherwise be using to screw over the walk-ins. That's why a straight-up salesman such as Pat here on the board should be cherished - his kind are few and far between!

Any chance the drop ship could just be to the customer's residence?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I doubt that Jeep is going to route their car carriers to anywhere but a dealer. I don't think the truck drivers want to get involved with making a delivery and handing over the keys to anyone but a dealer.
