Honestly, the CD player option is pretty overpriced in my opinion; invoice is $173 but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it costs them less than $10 to add it. Also, the fact that it cuts into the storage space is indeed a bit of a downside, but one that I don't think I'll mind too much.

I decided to order it despite the cost because I just think it would suck to want to play a CD but not be able to because my nice new car doesn't have a CD player. CDs aren't like cassette tapes, they're still alive and well, both for old/used music within the past couple decades and new music too.

I realize you can always transfer the music to an SD card or to an MP3 player, but that takes time and requires you have access to a converting device (e.g., a computer or laptop). What if I'm on the road and buy a CD somewhere, or someone brings a CD that they want to play, and so on.

The portable CD player is an option I hadn't thought of, but even if I had I'd get the player anyway; I think it's nice to have something that's "built in" to the car with no extra wires, etc.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Can anyone share opinions on skid plates? The most offroading I do is when I go camping or hunting occasionally on forest service roads here in Colorado. I'm sure the 20's without skid plates would be fine if I don't get too far off-road, but i'm also considering getting a 2nd set of rims/snow tires for winter.

Any idea how much it would cost to buy and install all the skid plates included with ORAII? I don't see any other way to order the skid plates and keep the 20" wheels.

Can you post a photo of that?? I would love to see it!!

Jeepers,

Having no wires is a real plus. But the other real plus is having hundreds,, or thousands of songs on a small card, instead of a bunch of CDs on the seat, or in the half of the console that you still get to use.

Not having a built in HDD that automatically records the CDs is a step backwards for me.

My wife and I have said we've got to video him doing it but haven't done so because he only seems to do it when both of us are in the X3 with him. But we keep trying! I hope he can do it in the GC.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Thanks,, that is what I thought as well. When we started the order the codes for the pano roof were not there, but came "appeared" before we got the other options checked. It is obviously a work in progress. At least I got my order placed. This site has helped a lot!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

So I took Sno's advice and emailed all the Chrysler dealers within an hour or two from me. I said that I already recieved a deal for 2% below invoice and was wondering if they would be able to beat it or at least match it. I did get a lot of immediate call back. Pretty much all of them said they would match the 2%. One said they think they can do better, but didn't give me any numbers bc they have to wait until they see figures and it becomes available to order (Overland CRD). Luckily one of them were pretty close to home, salesman that I talked to seemed knowledgable of the 14's, as well as helpful and personable. Think I found my dealer and know my build. Just waiting for order banks to open up. I did ask about doc fee's and such, and it was reasonable. Guaranteed under $200 in fee's. Also read some reviews on the dealership since I've never been to this one and everything was good.

Overland 4X4 - MSRP $45,995 ($43,736) + $995 destination<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
With 3.0L V6 TURBO DIESEL ENGINE (EXF) + 8-SPD AUTO 8HP70 TRANS (DFD) 22P (Late Availabilty) [MSRP $4,500 / INV. $ 4,005]<o></o>
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (NHK) [MSRP $95 / INV. $ 85]<o></o>
QUADRA-DRIVE II 4WD SYSTEM (AWB) (requires 27P) [MSRP $795 / INV. $ 708] with AWY and EXF or EZH: [(no charge)]<o></o>
Elec LTD Slip Differential Rr Axle (DSF) <o></o>

Estimating at 2% below invoice = $48,711

It implies in some locations, in others it specifically says.

Aside from the benefits, the organization educates one in mitigating the damage to the environment one can cause off-roading at the same time improving the image of off-roading.

I'm happy that my searching for dealers have inspired others to contact dealers for good deals! 1 thing I never did in any of my emails to them was to state I had a 2% under invoice already, so match or beat. If you have affiliate, the dealer only loses that 1% to you (I've heard they actually get 2% so they don't lose any). Some of the dealers stayed right around invoice but some have gone beyond what I thought they would.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I noticed that many of you are ordering the Off-Road Package. Do you plan serious off-road riding in your $50,000 GC's?

I also read today that you must have been a member for at least 30 days for them to honor the membership discount.

It's a Jeep.

Seriously, I expect to get the skids but mostly because I want to ensure that I CAN take it off road without ripping up the underside on an errant rock. I do not intend to be climbing boulder fields with it.... not for a few years anyway.
