I tried to order a Limited / Lux Pkg - couldn't order. I want the car by April 1, and I really liked the Overland enhancements, so I ordered my first Jeep - '14 Overland. What surprised and disappointed me was the unknown pricing when ordering, and the unclear standard features and options. Then, to see a $2620 price increase on my car was shocking. I am a retired engineer and I have led large projects. Jeep had plenty of time to execute this well. Dealers could have had all information in-hand days after the big show. I hope manufacturing goes better. The first buyers take a risk with new equipment but Jeep does not seem to value that (like extended warranties for early buyers).

Keep in mind that Chrysler has not had a sales launch yet. They opened the order banks for dealers to fill their lots for the launch. Those of us willing to take a chance by ordering ahead of time, did just that, took a chance. I'm pretty sure that when you start seeing the TV ads announcining the new vehicles, you will have the information available. I've never heard of any auto manufacturer giving an extended warranty for early buyers. Sometimes they extend a warranty after a problem arises.

I had checked all the dealer inventory in my area for 13s and found that none had an Overland with an ORII on the lot. If it was something these dealers normally stocked I would have just waited for them to arrive and bought one.

Do we know why the prices that Car & Driver claims came from a Jeep representative:

Limited: $36,790 + $2000 for four-wheel drive
Overland: $43,990 + $3000 for four-wheel drive

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

To Bill_de's point, if it was not for JeepGarage and the WK2 site we would not know 95% of what we know. Prior to the Detroit Auto show we would have seen/heard rumors about the 2014 coming with a diesel option and a new 8-speed transmission, and that it might be released early. After the autoshow we would be waiting patiently for more information to come out while just the dealers were dealing with the issues that we are seeing right now so that by the time we all rushed in the buy/order our 2014's a month or two from now, this could have all been settled.

Having all of this advance information has been great and I wouldn't change a thing about it, but we should all keep it in perspective...

Just my 2-cents worth on a Sunday morning...

Most people don't put 300k miles on their vehicle, and with the increased towing capacity the v6 will be efficient for most. With the gas prices in my area, you will need to drive 190k miles to break even with the upcharge for CRD. The torque is nice, but is the upcharge really worth it. If Chrysler offers an incentive, it would definitely help make the decision a lot clearer.
They should have a fairly nice discount for diesel models cause you can get air suspension if needed also more bells and whistles than the VW Touareg, VW does not have air on their models here, and it is kinda of expensive. Read on VW forums that people wish they had the air option so maybe they will be lured to the GC diesel if price came down a bit

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I absolutely agree. The information that Milous provides is incredible. It has been essential for me, new to Jeep, to decide whether to buy a 2013 or 2014 and which model. Cannot wait for my new ride.

Thanks again to everyone who shared info on this site. Invaluable.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Long time reader - first time post. I've been waiting for the 2014 to replace my 2005 WK. I'm in the Chicago area and was looking forward to seeing the 2014 at the Chicago Auto Show (next stop will probably be Pat at Fields). Just went to the auto show website and it indicates that only 2013 grand cherokees will be on display. The website also only shows pictures of the 2013. There's hardly even an acknowledgement of the 2014 refresh. The only 2014 on display will be the SRT in a separate section of the show. Can anyone confirm that other models like Limited, Overland or Summit will be on display like Detroit?

Thanks to all who have posted invaluable info on this site. I've waited patiently for this model year and really want to see it for myself.

By differ you mean the numbers aren't dead on but the end result is the same? The 4x4 Overland is $46, 990 either way you slice it. That site got their original numbers from Milous THEN had a Jeep rep confirm them.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Okay, yes, if you assume destination is included, then they are equal. But if not, they are not equal and usually prices quoted by most outlets don't include destination.

I suppose because the numbers match up exactly with destination, we'll have to assume it's being included but it doesn't specify either way.

Yeah, the description for Jeep for the Chicago auto show sure is strange. The refer to new infotainment features and headlight washers, but then refers to some other items, mainly interior colors, that are 2013 items.

The fact that 2013 supply is dwindling, Chicago is a huge SUV market, and auto shows are very expensive for the manufacturers, I would be really surprised if the 2014s are not there.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

There were no 2014s at the Memphis show last weekend, but that's no surprise. Most manufacturers don't bother with such a small show. I would expect Chicago to have them, being much larger. Manufacturers do change the line up right up to the last minute.

Fully agree. This is better-than-balllpark info that helped me make the decision to order, and know roughly where I want to be with my dealer when I pay for the vehicle.

It's the curse of knowledge - we're now smart enought to know what other info we want! Plus, we all understand the configuations and limitations of each package well in advance. This let's us put together a plan A, B, and C. Thanks for the info you've given so far Milous (and others).
