I love GC and there is absolutely no other car right now that I like so much. Seems like every time you have to make a big decision it is never a good time.

When I was fresh out of college and buying my first car while looking for first just IT WAS NOT A GOOD TIME,

When I was buying my house recession hit while working in finance, IT WAS NOT A GOOD TIME.

My house was flooded during hurricane Sandy, today it seems like it is not a good time to have a baby and buy a new car but ... you know what, it will never be good time.

Invoice is not the dealer's true cost - it's just become the starting point in negotiations when buying a new car (like MSRP used to be 15-20 years ago). For every car a new car dealer sells, they earn certain other incentives (e.g.; holdback) from the manufacturer that add to their bottom line (i.e.; their profit). They also want you to trade in a vehicle and let them arrange financing on the new one - further adding to their profit margin. So, a dealer can easily sell a vehicle under the well-advertised and easily-obtainable invoice price without losing any money on the deal.

Now it looks like I have to spend $62,190 to get a JGC diesel in Canada. A $7150 premium over the V6 and offered in Overland and Summit trim only. Totally insane. Diesel SUV's sell very well in Canada but when Jeep pricing is the same if not more than luxury German brands like Audi and Mercedes, the purchasing decision becomes very different.

Jeep could have the diesel SUV market cornered in Canada with a high quality and more affordable alternative to the Germans but they appear to have dropped the ball big time on pricing.

I really hope a Limited diesel is made available in Canada for order come March as I love everything about the JGC, just not the diesel price/trim premium. Ok, I also don't like the filler piece under the HID's but I'm getting over that!

Thanks! That's good to know. I'm actually already under invoice and the dealer won't go any lower. Do I want AWG, yes, but is it worth $1500 to me, especially now with the E ending up being $500 more than previously expected and the Sport mode being standard across the board now even without Selec-Terrain (I think)? I think it would be if modifying the order now would cause a delay, but since you say it won't now I'm not so sure. $1500 buys a lot, including an extended warranty if I wanted it...

I think I'll sleep on it. If I do decide to remove it, who knows, while I'm at it I might get rid of the CD player too and save an extra $175 and some storage space.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

An extended warranty isn't going to keep your hands (heated steering wheel) and rear (heated seats) warm on all those cold winter days, every year. Not to mention having Snow mode that keeps the rear wheels from slipping on turns on snow. Unless you live in Florida, Houston, or Southern California, the All Weather Group looks like one very nice option at a good price.

8000.00 more for a summit in Canada then in the US. Really? Dollar is almost par. Better be good incentives or goodbye Jeep and Chrysler. Hello import. Would like to buy North American but not for that.

Specx, I am curious, what dealers offered you 2% under invoice? I am located in Redondo Beach, a bit of a drive to you area but it could be worth it for$500!

Anybody in Southern California getting quota beating 1% under invoice?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Thanks to all of you very knowledgeable folks in this thread. I visited my dealer today and ordered an Overland with V6. Like many others I was anxious for the diesel to be introduced but just could not justify the dollars since towing was not in the picture for me.

There was some discussion here earlier about Airpark Jeep in Scottsdale, AZ. I ordered there today and bought my previous 2012 Wrangler there. I have to agree that the sales experience is excellant but the service dept has its problems. I discussed this with my salesman Jason and he acknowledged past issues. I only work with Jason as the salesman and another Jason who is a service advisor. Both Jasons have well taken care of me and I will continue to use their services.

Thanks again to all, now the long wait for delivery.

Also, Chrysler Financial rates are great right now. Got quoted 1.99% for a 5 year note and 2.35 on a 6 year note...with excellent credit.
Great to hear about the low rates.

Surprisingly Perris Valley Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. It's one of the smaller dealers in the IE, but they are the only one to respond and offered to match the 2% under invoice.

True, but: Snow Mode can also be had with the ORAI package for $623 less. And if I don't get ORAI either, with that $600 I can buy 4 brand new TireRack high-rated winter tires that would be far better in snow and ice in auto mode than the stock all seasons would be in Snow Mode, and still have some money left over. I could also buy 4 new higher rated all seasons than the Forteras that would probably do better in all conditions (including snow) too.

I'd have a harder time not going with ORAI if it had Remote Start like AWG, but it doesn't.

Heated front seats and steering wheel would be awesome to have, but for me they're not a necessity, especially since the seats are cloth and not leather.

Personally, I think the AWG was pretty well priced for the 2013 at $700 invoice. But for $1500, when heated cloth front seats and steering wheel are all that's new and remote start and Selec-Terrain is all I really care about (but I care about S-T much less now that Sport Mode was moved to the shifter) and all the other things are kind of just a bonus to me, it seems like too much for me.

Especially since, like someone alluded to a couple days ago jokingly -- the base Laredo E is $4.8K less than the base Limited, but when you add AWG it's only $3.3K less. That makes them awfully close price wise, but not feature wise.

Now that Milous is saying altering the order at this point shouldn't cause any delay, my gut is telling me to remove both options and keep my fingers crossed that there are no delays. But again, I want to sleep on it first before making my final decision...

I wonder if no built-in CD player would be a turn off to people down the road when/if I ever resell... but perhaps the lack of storage space would also turn people off...
