Not sure if I should try and import a US Summit to Canada. I'm only 5 mins from the border and the wife is american. I believe warrenty is void if I import and then they charge fee's and taxes. So not sure if it's worth the hassle to save $7000 lol. Also I think if you import a vehicle it has to be at least 1 yr old. Not sure. Summit in Canada is a few hundred less than an SRT with no options??

I can understand paying a bit of a premium in Canada. There is a cost to selling a vehicle, and the manufacturer is dividing that cost over 90% fewer vehicle sales (Canadian sales are typical 10% of the US market.) Is that cost $10K in the case of an Overland? Not on your life.
Canadian $ has been valued sometimes more than US currency as well. Mostly at par or near par. This is highway robbery!

  • Splash Guards by Mopar®
Guessing it'll be close for the GC.
That'd be great if that was what it is. Depending on the look of the grill guard of course, but I would probably get it.

I thought the same thing, though though would never buy the new diesel without warranty, so I would get into an Audi (transferable warranty). Though while searching I came across this add in Toronto 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland SUMMIT

A JGC imprted from the US that he paid $3k to have Canadian warranty coverage? Interesting...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

While you're waiting, let's figure out the vins. This applies to anyone that got the email with the link to the VOTS website.

In the URL to VOTS you will find the last eight digits.

WK2JEEPS.COM has a decoder set up.

I found that WK2JEEPS already has the 2014 decoder up. Without calculating the check digit I came up with one for mine.

1C4RJFCT?EC125811

It looks like you ordered a V6

I found a check digit calculator ,.. ain't the internet fun?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I am hearing that the Diesel engine will not be shipping in vehicles until June/July. Is that accurate? Also, do you guys think that the diesel engine is worth the $4k price tag over the new V6?

The CRD isn't going into production until March 25. So you might be figuring 12 weeks out.

Thanks SnoFire. I am a newbie here and excited about the CRD (mostly from a mileage perspective). What is your take on the CRD vs the V6? Do you think it is worth the $$$

Jump over to the diesel sub-forum.... or use the search function, there has been a zillion debates over the engine choices.
