That was me. Milous made it clear that these prices are preliminary, I'm just theorizing that you can figure out which prices are clearly not nailed down because they don't follow Jeep's normal pricing convention.

I doubt the final prices would differ that much, unless they are floating a trial balloon on this board with some of those bigger price hikes. I am hoping the CRD adder is a feeler and the nearly unanimous response may be noticed.

If not, I may just wait till the end of the year when there should be a nice supply of unsold CRD models sitting on lots....

#722 ·
As of today the Lux Group isn't an option on the Limited through the ordering bank at the dealership.

#734 ·
I would love to have the CRD, I think that compared to the V8 there is some opportunity for savings over the 5-6 year timeframe. The payback time for the gas v6 will be much longer (I don't know if you will ever recoup it with higher diesel prices and maintenence). However, I feel the CRD should be compared to the Hemi as its performance will be more similar to the Hemi than to the pentastar V6. I am concerned however with the long term reliability/durability of the engine and the lack of familarness of the average dealer service department. If the lifetime warranty were available on the CRD I would jump on it in a heartbeat...but as of now it looks like the gas V6 for me.

#743 ·
So I've been through the posts/links/docs, but I must be missing something. What features are different between a Limited + Lux + OR2 and a Overland + OR2? Other than the leather dash and the sweet indigo/brown interior, are there any other features that the Overland would have that the Limited wouldn't? Not sure those two features alone are worth the price premium.

In addition to what jgc4ever mentioned, Overland seats are Nappa leather, RA4 premium nav is Standard on Overland, and Overland has rear foot well lighting. Chrome tow hooks are exclusive to Overland.

#745 · (Edited)
2014 Overland gets power folding mirrors and body painted rocker panels, while the Limited does not. You already mentioned the leather differences. I think Overland gets a free year of Sirius Travel Link and Traffic. I don't know if loaded Limited does or not. Overland grille has honeycomb while Limited gets vertical slits. Overland gets chrome tow hooks. I don't know if the tow hooks on the Limited with the off road package are chrome or not. Overland probably gets tow hitch cover and cargo net. Don't know about a loaded Limited. Wood on steering wheel in Overland.

#789 ·
Oh no, that would be very disappointing. With the $4500 CRD price premium (assuming same will hold true for Canada) I had set my sights on a Limited CRD. Hopefully this is just an error in current order information and Canada will see Limited CRDs after all.

Great site by the way! Thanks to all that contribute so much invaluable information!!

#751 ·
Quadra-lift on the Overland. That sums up our daily report of the differences between a Limited with Lux Group and an Overland. Now back to beating the Lux Group..

Something just occurred to me. At the NAIAS, on the jeep website, and various other websites around the net, even a spot on TV, All state that the 2014 Grand Cherokee 3.0l diesel will be available the first quarter of 2013. Yet WE know that production of the diesel is not slated to start until March 25th, 2013. So just how is jeep going to have these on the lots by the end of March? Simple answer is that, they are not.
This little factoid lends credence to the theory that while jeep does intend to have the diesel, They are really only doing it as a marketing ploy. Sort of like a $50,000 electric Toyota Rav 4, 'yes we are going to build it!' What they don't want to tell you is that they really don't want to actually sell it.:slapfight:
Jeep appears to be doing much of the same thing. Chrysler could have brought us a diesel jeep at any time. I refer to this article.

35 MPG: Why Wait Until 2020? | MPGomatic

Now granted, these wonderful sounding vehicles would not have been CARB compliant, but so what? Just stick a label on them that says "Not for sale in the state of California" and your covered. Why not allow those of us that live in 'fly-over' country an opportunity? I wouldn't even care if it was a right hand drive. Just make it available, I'll worry about the emmissions checks in my own state. ;) Oh wait, that's right, we don't have smog checks. I guess that's because we don't have any smog.:p

Yes, i got carried away with the faces, nobody is talking.

:lol::lol: Tell that to the folks in Australia and Europe.
The main reason for not selling a diesel here before now is there was very low demand. If fuel prices don't get out of hand and somebody can muzzle the EPA there will continue to be low demand.

I have a question regarding ordering...I am currently overseas finishing up a deployment. I would like to place an order for an Overland but was unsure if it is even possible to not be face-to-face with the dealer, much less on the other side of the world. Is this possible over the phone/email/post office??

The military has a program set up for buying cars, but it does not seem very organized at the moment due to the new model.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Sno!

One more question you or someone else might know...This is my first car purchase from an out of state dealer and I was curious about sales tax. Is it paid in your home state upon registration or in the state where the vehicle was purchased?

Milous is Limited currently available with Lux group if you get the stock gas V6?

Was hoping to get Limited + Lux + Tow + 20" but I have heard Limited can't come with Lux unless you get diesel???

As I do not live in Illinois and according to Pat I will be paying Wisconsin not Illinois.

Usually tax is paid where car is titled and registered.
Out of State buyer/Sales Tax
Correct.

I live in Washington State, but have purchased vehicles in Oregon (No Sales Tax) and Illinios.

The bank generally requires that you either fron the cash for the sales tax before securing the loan, or you have to fold in the Sales tax into the loan request.

The Sales tax amount will be based on where you register the vehicle (declare your residence).

Just got an email from Pat stating that the Luxury Package isn't even showing on the CRD anymore... Not sure what is going on here.

That's good. That means that IT is making updates and we should all have new info this evening to hem and haw about ...

Hey guys didnt see this discussed anywhere, but is the CRD going to have a Eco Credit offered on it?

BMW has a $4,500 tax EcoCredit that comes right off the MSRP price on their diesel X5. If Jeep is offering this as well, it would help eat some of the costs of going with the diesel.

That's a good question. I thought the ECO credit was a BMW thing (VW doesn't have one, AFAIK) but it would be cool if the CRD had it too.
