I considered an iPad but with no optical drive that's out. I buy all my music digital but I don't think high def digital movies are quite there yet. And I'm not a big fan of making my kid hold a portable player, and the mounted ones look so cheap. I like the ability to control everything, and I'm hoping that they'll be some software integration eventually that would allow for streaming Netflix from my iPhone into the rear monitors or possibly even native integration if the whole wifi hotspot thing works out.
That's all pure speculation, but I'm a tech geek and having everything wired together and communicating is a good thing in my book. As I will be keeping this vehicle at least 5 years, I don't want to skip a desired feature just because I'm impatient.
Haha, I can relate 100%. I spent countless hours wiring over 2500' of network/speaker/RG6 into my house while doing renovations. Now everything runs to a single location in the basement, so I can control everything
That said, the part of the Blu-ray package that most intrigued me was the HDMI input (I was wondering how this could be available on the Town & Country and not the JGC, but they pulled through).
2 options are
- HDMI output directly from phone (mine would be though a lightening to HDMI adapter)
- Airplay to an Apple TV (or use a generic media player). With the included 120v, HDMI input and the JGCs hotspot, the only limiting factor would be how easy I could make it a sleek permanent install.
With all this tech talk, maybe someone could answer a couple questions that my 'Google Fu' couldn't...
- What is the resolution of the RA3/RA4?
- is the RA3/RA4 captive touch or resistive touch?
