Oh, sorry about that my mistake. I was confusing the optional quadra-drive II with quadra-trac II, I thought that since quadra-drive II was only available on the 3.0L and 5.7L that the V6 had quadra-trac I. Thanks for clearing that up.

Quadra-Drive II sure would be nice though.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Just got back from my dealer. I struggled over the colors, most of which are not that far apart (black, blue, maximum steel all look a like at a 100 feet). After a week of debate and narrowing it down to black or white, I order my new Overland, white with black interior. Ah, let the anticipation begin.

Congrats!

I have never liked white vehicles but this is the first I have considered ordering in White. I think it looks very sharp with the black interior.

Congrats! Glad to see another person choose the best exterior color.

I was never too fond of white either but, with the new facias and grill, it looks very cool.

Is Quadra Drive II available with the 6 cylinder?

Assuming I am reading things right, it appears Quadra Drive II might not be available with the 6 cylinder. If so, why not?

Much as the 8 cylinder hemi's power would be nice, the gas mileage is, to me, abysmal. Can't justify so significant a drop in fuel economy for a little fun at stoplights.

I've been trying to figure this out, but it seems there is no "build & price" option for the 2014 model year. Does anyone have insight into the available 4WD systems & why one may/may not care if one has Quadra drive II or the next level down.

Thanks,

No QDII without V8 ... nobody here knows why.

You can get prices and options for U.S. and Canada at the first post at the link below.

Thanks,
AFAIK, the difference between QTII and QDII is that the latter has the QTII transfer case plus an electronic limited slip differential at the rear. The Pentastar might not get that because its torque is much lower than that of the Hemi and CRD. I'm sure if I'm mistaken I'll be corrected.

As far as Jeep's "Build & Price" goes, you're better off working off of Milous' info, which includes invoice pricing which, in turn, should be used to calculate affiliate pricing (1% below invoice + $995).

The more I think of it, I recall the last Jeep we had, a 2002 V8 with QDII. One needed the V8 then as well. Made no sense then & doesn't now. The current V6 makes more power than the old 4.7. I like the idea of an ELSD as well. More traction is always a good thing, but I just can't justify the poor fuel economy of the V8 or stupid high premium for the diesel. I'd have to drive it 10 years before breaking even!

I'm thinking of a Limited or Overland in the fall to replace a 2011 335xi. Love BMW & had them for years, but they are getting stupid expensive and feel every smaller with every passing year. Maybe its just me getting older, but a little more room seems more appealing than 0-60. I figure that by the fall some of the initial bugs should be worked out, or so I hope.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The following from howstuffworks.com may be why the Limited Slip Differential is only available with an engine with the best torque.

HowStuffWorks "Limited Slip Differentials " - from page 2 of that link:

When an open differential does its job, it ensures the same amount of torque travels to each wheel. The amount of torque actually applied to the wheels is limited by only two factors: equipment and traction. On the equipment side of the equation, you need an engine capable of producing the power and gears up to the task of transferring it. As far as traction goes, the wheel needs to be able to grip the ground without slipping, which can occur on ice, wet roads or even on dry ones if you floor the vehicle at a standstill. But what if only one wheel is on ice or in the mud? You wind up with one wheel spinning freely over the slippery substance, while the other wheel is reduced to the same torque. In other words, you'll have one wheel spinning in the mud and one wheel not rotating at all.

I'm sure I'm not alone in my hope that *ALL* of the initial bugs have already been worked out!
