So, better contact the Colorado dealer. Don't mind driving from CO to CA. I did it once before for a Mini Cooper from UT to CA.
If I didn't drive so many miles for work, I would go with the V8 too. I never regretted getting one with my 2001, even now that gas is so expensive.

Who is the CO dealer you're talking to? What kind of hoops to you have to go through to bring the car to CA? Do you have to pay CO and CA sales tax?

I posted a similar deal with a dealer in Visalia CA as the Colorado deal... Just an FYI!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

"I could a had a V8!" Thought occurred to me too. Luckily I've owned several (mostly GM small blocks) over the years. Nothing like that feeling of raw power when you put your foot into it. But having gotten that out of my system, and after driving the incredible '14 V6 with the 8 speed tranny, I would only get the hemi if I were towing. For rock crawling the low end torque of the diesel would be the thing. I ordered mine with the V6. But still, nothing quite like a V8, especially the one in the SRT!

I hope this link works: $1750 below invoice offer for any members -- Colorado Springs, CO Oh, do note, the offer is valid only till Feb. 28.

Did not see the Visalia deal until right now. But it looks like the Visalia deal needs 5 orders in order for it to materialize.

Anyway, this is my experience from ordering the Mini Cooper out of Utah and registering in California. The Utah dealer gave me a temporary 1 month registration. No sales tax is paid. Once you arrive in California, you make an appointment with the CA DMV so that they can check the VIN number and whether the car is CA emissions compliant. Then the sales tax is determined according to where you live. Then (at that time) they gave you the license plates right away. Things may have changed.

Yes. Since I wanted an Overland with Quadra Drive, the V6 is not an option. I am pretty sure that I'll never use the capabilities of a Quadra Drive, but just wanted to check it out. Currently, I have a 2004 GC with the 4.0 inline six and Quadra Track. Thought I would check something different. Was never happy with the low torque of the 4.0 inline.

I'm pretty sure, any new vehicle brought in from out of state has to have about 7,000 miles on it before CA DMV will register it.

Jack Reak, the author of this offer from Faricy Boys of Colorado Springs, CO indicated to me that the Feb 28 cut off date is "not firm" and that until such time that all trim levels and options have been available to order for a period of time the offer will remain open.
I will not be able to order the GC Limited I want until March 5 and Jack will be contacting me to complete the order when the options I want are available to order.

No. The 7,000 miles applies to used cars. So that you cannot say that you registered your car out of state and are just bringing it into California. People in California used to do that, go to Oregon and have a temporary Oregon address (Oregon has no sales tax). But this is not the case here. A new car is not registered yet. All you are doing is getting a temporary license from whatever state. The first time you are registering the car is in California.

Here is the link from the CA DMV:http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/newvehicle.htm

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

So picture this. I finally get ticked off enough to call Chrysler about my car sitting in a storage lot for the better part of a week.

Me: Here's my VIN. My car has been sitting at Flatrock in I status for almost a week. Is there an issue and what can we do?

Chrysler: Hold on, let me check....looks like your car is still in the factory's hands at a storage yard.

Me: I know that. I just told YOU that. Why is it there?

Chrysler: Looks like the "build plan" calls for it to be shipped March 10.

Me: The car has been built for a week and they're going to let it just sit there for 2 more weeks? That doesn't make any sense!

Chrysler: It makes perfect sense, it's on the "build plan".

Me: Well then the plan is stupid!

Chrysler:......is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: No thanks, that was awesome.

I didn't make any of that up.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

They must be waiting for mine to fill the last slot on a train heading east. They haven't started building mine, but it's scheduled to ship the same day.

I guess at times it's better not knowing what's going on.
The person you spoke to probably has know idea what the 'plan' is, just that it says it on the computer screen.
