Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I read the article about Chrysler having to rehire the bums they had fired after catching them smoking dope and drinking beer on break. Seems they worked in the plant making Grand Cherokees - great !!! That concerns me. Does anyone else feel that way ?

Also, while the hiring of 1250 new workers to make the 8 speed transmission is a positive step for the economy, I'm not sure I want to have a Jeep assembled with a trans produced by newbies. For those of us with GC's in the "process", that seems like a possibility - I don't like it.

Many of the new workers are probably laid off auto workers.

Yes, that was/is my concerned as well. At least it is not a new tranny, just assembled here. I would imagine QA will be all over it (at least initially).

Also something to consider for V8 and CRD the tranny is actually imported (not made by Chrysler). For V6 it is assembled by Chrysler.

All companies have turnover... dont sweat it. They will have veterans doing the things that take skill... the new guys will be doing things a monkey could probably do

The Jefferson North plant is reportedly running seven days a week to meet demand for Grand Cherokees, after heightened quality standards and issues with the new PowerNet system and other 2014 upgrades resulted in lost output. 2014 Grand Cherokees with Hemi engines and eight-speed automatics have started to appear at dealerships, though full availability is weeks or months away.

The picture at allpar.com is of the upcoming 2014 (Small) Cherokee. Yup that's what it looks like!

I like your way of thinking. I found the V6 in the 2013 to be underpowered for me.

I think he means he's glad the Grand Cherokee didn't look like that. Me too because all the time spent researching would've been a waste for me. Had the GC looked like that I would not have bought one.

I have less than 200 miles on the new Jeep so thinking it might just be something temporary?
I've not experienced anything like this at all. I suggest you immediately change the cabin air filter; might help or even eliminate the bad smell.

Agreed, I frowned upon the face of the 14's initially and it has finally grown on me. If they put this on the GC, I would have threw up and bought a 13 model immediately.
