Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information
So, if I understand. No Tow hooks or Skid plates or 18" rims available on the 2014 Summit. Correct?
If this is correct, what is the difference between a Overland with added adaptive cruise control and Off-road Adventure II Group and the Summit?
That is, what am I giving up by getting Skid plates?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information
Milous, as with the 2011-2013, are the "on/off-road tires" the same as that come standard (Goodyear Fortera HL)?

I the US, you can get 18" wheels on the Summit as an option instead of the 20".
If you add the skid plates to the Summit, you basically have all the features an Overland with Offroad Adventure II would have - minus the tow hooks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information
No Skid plates from the factory because there in no Off-road Package option listed for the Summit? Skid plates are only after market. Correct? How about the Tow hooks?
It sounds like more factory options are available with the Overland. Trail rated badge not available on the Summit. Tow hooks not available. Skid Plates not available. Why is there a Summit? I don't get it...

No skid-plates and/or tow-hooks from factory on the Summit. Skid plates probably as accessory. Correct.
The Summit has a different "target group" - and that certainly aren't the off-roaders. It's aimed at the "take the SUV to the mall on the weekend and go dining afterwards and get valet-parked next to BMWs and MBs"...
There are more factory options on the Overland because the Summit has more standard features.
Overland=Adventure
Summit=Luxury

I guess what your saying is becoming clear. Also the harman/kardon system isn't available on the Overland. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it to. I'll have to think about this. Thank you for the help...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information
Hey Milous, before I order, I just want to make sure that none of the Laredo packages, colors, etc., are "late availability" and so would cause delays in building at this point?

You're welcome!
The Summit also gets you the upgraded leather, suede headliner, front parking sensors, headlamp washers and adaptive headlights.
Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. When it comes to my ride, I don't take the word "compromise" too well, either.
In case of deciding between the Summit and Overland, I came to the conclusion that the Harman Kardon and previously mentioned features are more important to me than a hill ascent control or two tow hooks since I won't be offroading in the first place. But that's just my personal choice.

Same boat here.
If I do go Summit, I'll have the skid plate put on. Pretty sure I can bribe the dealer, so long as the hard points are all still there (not sure why they wouldn't be, but.. who knows).
The Tow hooks, are not so much for my benefit, but for those around me. People around here see snow and suddenly, they all go brain dead. I'm the dude with the 4x4 usually pulling idiots out of the ditches.
You could probably, somehow, do an aftermarket Tow Hook setup on the Summit, but I suspect it would be more fun and less painful to just beat your pinky finger repeatedly with a ball-peen hammer for a few days...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information
I note that you are not mentioning the lane depature warning anymore
I kind of was expecting this. No one really mentioned it yesterday and it was only mentioned in the package description. Any idea whether this will a late availability?
Any news on the stop and go feature?
