Can anyone tell me this! I spoke to a dealer today who told me he ordered his stock 2 weeks ago for his showroom floor. How many orders do you guys have in the system for Aussie dealers?

#1,734 · (Edited)
Info I have is Aust RHD stock is scheduled for build in March.. There seems to be a big disconnect between what we get told locally and the info on this forum.. I.e model line up, spec, availability, when to order, when it will be built, ordering, getting an E number, etc etc etc... It's very frustrating when you plan on spending over $75K on a vehicle.. I think each of us Aussies have heard all sorts off various "info" from local dealers but noting much lines up with the info here unfortunately

Hi All,

New to the board, but I've been eyeing the Summit. Live in Montreal, Canada (ie: highest tax rate in the world). I've just been given pricing for Overland and Summit models.

Overland Diesel - $66,864+tax
Overland V8 - $62,869+tax
Summit Diesel - $70,414+tax
Summit V8 - $66,419+tax

I'm actually a bit blown away by these prices (awfully steep in my opinion)

#1,714 ·
I agree. This may be another one of those times that Jeep come out with a diesel and it ends up failing and discontinuing for another few years. Although Milous did state that final pricing has been on MSRP and Invoice of vehicles, not packages and we might see a change in price for adding diesel option. Also been noted that chance of incentives on diesel is close to slim.

#1,716 ·
I agree.

When did Jeep come out with a diesel in the US? When anyone asked about incentives on the 2014, they never said anything for the CRD they just asked in general. Things could change between now and March 25th when production starts. People complain the diesel is so expensive but I also hear that the Toureg TDI is more expensive, so which would you rather have a More expensive diesel engine but vehicle is less or a more expensive vehicle overall?

#1,715 ·
A huge thank you to Scott and Milous,

After watching Milous' order tracking thread and staring at my order with absolutely no activity, it prompted me to call my dealer. Yep, there was an issue with the order. The order was on hold waiting for a clarification of some kind of number. Regardless, issue resolved and supposedly my order should be fine now.

If it wasn't for this site and Milous' amazing tracking, I never would have thought that there might have been an issue and lord knows how long it would have taken to catch.

So thanks to both of you again!

Now, lets see if it really does get going...

It could be the Jeep is making a mistake with the diesel pricing. Or, it could be they did a lot more research than talking to a handful of people who don't want to pay the price. Time will tell.

I'm assuming we all would prefer to pay a lower price?

That being said, the US pricing differential at MSRP between the Toureg TDI and similarly optioned GC CRD is not very much, something around 3-4k but it is hard to get the options to line up closely. The upcharge to go diesel from gas on the Toureg is 8%, GC is 10-12% depending on trim level.

I think the Toureg is a nice vehicle, but a but overpriced for what you get and I am not a big fan of the jelleybean styling..

If Jeep dropped the CRD premium down a bit to line up with the market I think that would help seal the deal for many.

With Milous's tracking is it just through the build process or does it provide when it actually gets shipped out and aproximate denstination date(I'm in Canada). Thanks

Like everyone else I followed the noise about the diesel and I convinced myself that it is simply not worth it. I am from Chicago and our diesel prices are about 60 cents higher per gallon Factoring a 0.25 dollar per gallon per year increase in the average cost of fuel; driving 15,000 miles per year; split about equally between city and highway, I would need about 8 years to recover the price difference of some 4500 dollars (I calculated it as $ 4005 plus some 500 dollars difference in the ORA II pricing due the added cost of the rear QD-2 differential). Consequently I will stick with the gas V6. Another factor that comes to mind is the added weight: 400 lbs extra bulk on the diesel variant - or the equivalent of 2 adult males.

The way I foresee it: the diesel Jeep will remain a niche market - much like the Subaru Legacy GT (turbo) crowd that I am a part of. It will be purchased by folks who love the smell of diesel driving in Moab; by those who tow a lot and by those who drive a lot. For most of us it makes little sense. The problem is three fold: the diesel option is (1) priced too high; and (2) offers marginal fuel economy improvements over the gas variants. Lastly (3) the price of diesel fuel is too high compared to regular throughout US.

I will be ordering the V6 Limited with the ORA II; Nav; Lux and Tech pkgs. once I can configure the Limited with the other two packages. I know that it is basically an Overland at that point but cheaper by about 1000 using 2013 pricing. The car will be for the wife...but customized to my ...needs. And hers (advanced technology group). We are getting at least 1% under invoice through her work i(Tier 1 Auto Supplier) and any discounts; incentives; auto show rebates; personal charm that we may secure in the next 1-2 weeks.

Got offered 2% under invoice at a closer dealer and we decided to meet and order tomorrow. No other dealer has contacted me and it looks like the one I was working with blew me off. Good thing too is they will take the order with no commitment and if I change my mind, they will just put it on the lot to sell as if they ordered it for their inventory. Talking to my wife tonight to confirm the colors for the exterior/interior and will be able to join the list tomorrow with others.

I too have two dealers vying for my business. Both have been great and it is going to suck telling one of them I'm getting it from the other guy. Both have already ordered the vehicles to my specs with no commitment. That was their idea, not mine. They both know about the other. I don't know what to do if they both offer the exact same for the new GC and my trade in.

Aside from the 2014 configurator, is there an active topic here about the %$&^%^&#%&&^# inventory search on the Jeep website. Letting it be THAT screwed up for THAT long doesn't say much about Jeep's attention to quality or customer satisfaction. Why are we not raising H*** about it?

What's wrong with the search? I fool around with it every day and haven't encountered any problem.

As for configuring a 2014, until it shows up at the link below, you won't see the info. I don't think they want that up and running yet, but a programmer tested the link and forgot to take it out.

My problem with it is likely caused by trying to look at a greater distance. At 200 miles and a large number of results, it is a WRECK. Actually, it will change distances by itself and often revert back to one of it's own choice. Cars.com shows every single one as a V8 and only lists some at that.

I guess there is no way for me to do a complete search at this point without doing a LARGE number of local searches.
