Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Sorry guys, typo on the "monochrome." Stupid iPhone remembers me typing monochrome in the past, and assumed it knew what I wanted to say and "fixed" my spelling.

Anyway, the two black Summits I saw on the final line this morning were black trim, not granite.. Other colors still had granite. (Or whatever the official color is called.) Didnt see any black/granite combos. But again, doesn't mean they don't exist.. But I have yet to see any production builds that way.

I checked the dealer website yesterday and there is no picture. I will not post the dealer name as the sales guy was too nice to be phone bombed by the Jeep arm of the CIA.

I really do appreciate the APA monotone paint code info from WAP 2012 as well as the 7% below invoice number from TV GUY 710, but photos would have made the info more believeable. To be 100% clear, the last phrase in the preceeding sentence was a joke. I'll be here all week. Badaboom!
Well 11% under invoice makes me laugh all the way to the bank. Might post photo after delivery.

Yeah, but you didn't post what they wanted to hear/see therefore it can be spun about 100 different ways and beat in the ground another 100.

Thanks for checking Chevy. Hmmm so we have black Summits showing up on dealer lots or in final production with and without gray lower trim however this does not appear to be a selectable option anywhere? I don't like the way this sounds, so do we just get whatever they feel like making that day? Do you know anyone who would be able to explain this? I wouldn't be asking so many questions except I have the black summit ordered and would like to understand if something different is going to show up than what I thought. Thanks

(I have guesses of what an "electronic issue" might mean. It could be anything. I want them to take their time and get it right. I'm sure they are working hard.)
Are they 100% certain GC diesel production and orders won't be pushed back another month?; < No; Do they think orders will start on April 2nd and production will start on the 22nd? < Yes;
(The source of the information was above the dealer level. I believe this is all the information on the diesel available from anyone.)
Also, my dealer said the orders are in the computer they just can't be sent yet. They try everyday even though they are pretty sure it won't be until April 2nd at least. It sounds like all the codes are in the computer. Essentially, they just have to click send. I think my order was their first but they now have at least 4 diesel orders entered and ready to send.
One of the dealers I am working with, who was also aware of the delay on the CRD, said his source indicated they "we're having trouble matching the new transmission to the diesel". Put that in context with your "electronic issue" and I think that points to the programming of the transmission. Probably just a supplier issue making sure they don't send a CRD out with hemi shift patterns... That would not work too well.

I am surprised your dealer says they can enter orders, every one I have talked too says the CRD option is greyed out and one of them showed me they can't enter it right there on the screen.

No, what I'm leaning toward is there ISN'T an option bc there aren't multiple choices. IIIIIII have yet to see a production black/granite, all I see is what your dealer ordered for you (black/black).

If there are different choices available, It'd be nice to hear from someone who was able to order something different than you, (in black).

Again, I'm not discrediting anyone's previous sightings in pics, or shows, but this could be another case of a last minute switch, as was the case with the upper fascia (grille) on the Laredo.

Thanks

Yes I agree it will probably be one way or another, is it possible they changed mid production? or once they start is that the way it is and does not change?

Take a look at this dealer picture that just showed up from a dealer in MI, looks like granite though. this is a dealer lot photo not a press photo. cars.com is good place to look at these photos some have real photos not the press photos. The lighting makes it hard to tell but if you zoom in on it looks like granite.

Whatever it turns out to be thank you for checking assembly, appreciate it.
