I've seen fully assembled cars gutted on the final line to replace a wiring harness, as well as complete cars that have to be scrapped bc of a non repairable issue.

However, you should know there's no direct correlation between the duration of the "inspection" (repair) time and the extent of the necessary repairs. So just bc a car may sit in wait for a month doesn't mean it's needs extensive work, it could just mean there's quite a few more ahead of it that the repair men are working/behind on.

As I've said before, the processes have changed quite a bit, and much of what USED to get a "It's good.. Ship it!", now gets an "Awww hell naw, we gotta fix that!" Obviously more focus on quality today will cut down on more expensive warranty claims tomorrow. Which leads to happier consumers.

FYI: This happened to me last year when I bought mine.. Truck was held up for about 3 weeks bc of a blemish in the paint on the tailgate and some other minor crap. I didn't care, but had I seen these things afterward, I'd prolly been pissed and drove the thing through the front door of the plant!.. So yea.. Wait now, and truly enjoy it when you get it!

I figured as much, thanks for the confirmation. Now my OCD will kick in and I'll be wondering exactly what was "wrong" with it.

That's a good tidbit...

For a follow-on can you explain why every SRT is sitting in containment? Unless it has changed in the past 36 hours, Milous didn't think any of the 300+ that are built had been released from the plant...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I can't explain that, bc I know that not to be true.. You'll be glad to hear that SRTs have been shipping for AT LEAST the past 9hrs. I saw maybe 20 of them sitting in the shipping yard on my way in Tuesday evening, and this morning when I came in (3am), they were gone. So somewhere between Tuesday night and 3am this morning, they said their goodbyes and hitched a ride otta here!

Edit: And actually, more COULD'VE been shipped before then! I just so happened to see this bunch lined up along the fence as I rode by, and noticed this morning they weren't there anymore.

If they were brought back into the plant for containment of some sort, I would've heard about it by now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

So... dealer just brought me out a 2014 limited with the 8.4AN stereo.. They just got these a few days ago and i was the first test drive. I was just curious, i thought the 8.4an has the 3d nav maps? I couldn't get it to goto 3d mode, nor could the salesman.. am i wrong about the 8.4AN?

BTW.. i am used to my 98 dakota.. the 2014 limited is like driving a lazyboy around.. the v6 is nice but seems a bit slugish even compared to my old 3.9.. but it has a 5 speed stick, thats probably all it is.. deciding if i want to take it or not

P.S. sticker is 39,585.. they say thats it.. no discounts.. sound right?
P.P.S. OHHH yeah.. and the stereo says "THE SPEED LIMIT IS 45" When you get near the limit.. is that able to be disabled?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

My wife and I have had our new Overland a week now. We absolutely love the looks and features. I am really impressed with the V6 performance in Sport mode.

We are proud to show friends and they have all been impressed as well.

So - Chevy, Marlon, Scott, and the others at JNAP - thank you very much. It's clear to us that the crew made a top quality vehicle.

Thanks again, Tom

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Still in the Inspection stage. Been 5 days now. Man this is killing me. Now that its built I just want to get my new baby in my hands and drive it already..... Someone from the factory help a brother out and put in the good word with the inspection team to KZ it already.

I would start looking for a nearby group buy... the one I am in is getting 7% off invoice. You should be able to at least get 1% off invoice with a tread lightly membership.

I would not buy at sticker.
