The tread lightly web site says that you have to be a member for 30 days before you can receive the affiliate discount. Has anyone found this to be true? My GC is still in prerelease, so it shouldn't be a problem for me, but it might be for others

Question.....I am planning to order a limited with 20" wheels, lux II and 8.4an.

Sooo...I will put down a deposit, but do you come to a final agreement when you order? Because I plan to finance about half with my credit union, which the approval will only be good for 30 days...so do I go to the credit union when the truck arrives??

And do they give you a solid number for your trade? Cuz I'll have to be driving it, while I wait.

You can get the affiliate control # through Tread Lightly a few days after joining. So if your veh is delivered and purchase completed around 30 days later you should be fine. You can always have the dealer hold the veh for you after delivery to the dealer with a deposite if needed and complete the purchase after the time period but I doubt the 30 days is a hard and fast rule.

You should be able to come to a final agreement with regards to the vehicle when you order.

For the financing, that is pretty typical to be good for 30 days. You could become a Level 3 or higher member on this site to have Milous give you detailed tracking information, then you can time things pretty easily. Otherwise, your dealer can tell you when the vehicle is released from the plant (which means your vehicle is leaving the factory and is on its way to the dealer). You should be able to get a complete order sheet from your dealer with all the pricing details at that time that you can hand over to your credit union.

For your trade, some places will give you a 30-day quote. A lot of dealers will do that, you just have to check. Other places that purchase your vehicle outright (in Houston - CarMax, Texas Direct, etc.) typically give quotes that are good for 7 days.

In short, some legwork and phone calls to keep everything tracked on your end and you should be good to go.

When I made the deal, I received a firm quote on my trade, with the dealer making an allowance for the miles that I would drive until the new GC arrives. The sales manager Joked and said not to depreciate my trade pulling out into traffic leaving the lot. I countered with the 2 cross country trips I was planning to take in May, hoping that would speed up my delivery. I found a good dealer. They know that I will be putting miles on the vehicle until they can deliver a new one. I also understand, that if I dent "their" 2011 GC, I will take the depreciation

Thanks, that I what I figured. I don't see my GC going from prerelease to delivery in 30 days, but hope springs eternal!

When I ordered we agreed to % off invoice (prices weren't out yet), and trade in value. We never discussed anything else until I took delivery. I told them when I picked it up that I would either pay cash or finance $14,000 depending on interest rate. It took them less than 10 minutes to have a finance contract printed and ready to sign. This is from Sun Trust at 1.6 % for three years.

All this stuff is pretty quick and painless these days. I remember the days that the auto manufacturers lowered their rates to 12% just to move metal. The banks were getting 18%.

Another question....I don't typically order cars, but will in this case....so

If I order one and then some start to show up...can I just get one of those instead of waiting for my exact one and does the dealer have to agree to something like that up front??

Anybody know why the CRD option is $500 more on the Summit than the Overland or Limited? Are you getting something extra, or are they just gouging the Summit buyer? I'm leaning toward a Summit CRD vs the Overland but was wondering why the price difference.

I bought a 2014 Overland in N California this last thursday. Wasn't offered paint protector, nor told aftermarket/online warranties wouldn't be valid in CA.
