A: Lower manufacturing cost to increase profit. (Despite flipper being a valuable feature that almost every other competitor has.)
Why: Because the first wave of MY2014 models released in 2013 will sell due to 8-speed tranny, diesel, new radio, and simply being MY2014. First wave customers won't not buy due loss of flipper glass or odd interior color choices (dark or light, nothing in the middle).
By the time 2014 actually arrives, MY2014 JGC must be refreshed to attract new buyers -- by restoring what was held back or stripped off, notably more light exterior colors, better interior colors, "new" flipper tailgate glass, and maybe even the option to have a classic Jeep chrome face. (But I don't expect the off-road package units to actually get off-road tires...they ride too rough for dealer test drives. Which makes the "Trail Rated" badge a tad delusional.)
