Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I think many of you guys have a flawed view of the process. Whoever said every car has to sit in "inspection" for whatever period of time doesn't know what they're talking about.

It is not ABnormal for a car to be painted this morning, and hit shipping status this afternoon. Actually, that's the goal!!! It doesn't take 24hrs to build anything at JNAP, and if you have a car that's sat in ANY status that long, there's something wrong with the car, or the tracking info. Again, when your see "inspection" that's means something needs to be fixed. You really think they're gonna tell you "in repair?" No..

I wish I could show you guys a pic of what/where "inspection" is, and how many cars are in it right now. But it'd do Chrysler good to just start offering plant tours to the public so you guys can get an idea of what goes on for yourself.. I hate to see you guys anxious and clinging to info, with a false perception of what it means. Kinda like when I order sumn off eBay and within hours it says, "your item has shipped!" Yea ok, bulls***!!!

So what you are telling us is that you guys have a pretty good quality control process and that those people alone are responsible for the good cars we're getting. So they are worth their money.

On the other hand what you are telling us is that the final product coming off the line assembly process is of less than perfect (maybe even poor) quality - since so many cars are in the "inspection" process, especially for extended periods of time.

Wouldn't it be better for a company to have better building quality right off the assembly line so cars (products) spend less time undergoing quality checks and post-build repairs ?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I am considering ordering a Summit in "Deep Auburn Pearl" which looks to be available now (As of March 11th). Where can I get more pictures of this color - or samples of how it looks on the JGC. Also is it used on any other Jeep models that I can go check on the lots ?

Thanks,
Tom

Hey Chevy, do you have a way of seeing what's wrong with mine? It's been in inspection since the 13th.

Aren't you the same guy who was shooting off some bs the other day about a few of my coworkers?

For the record, I'm not "telling" you anything. You're responsible for drawing your own conclusions no matter how negative they are. But the fact of the matter is, drawing conclusions without all the facts is just plain ignorant. You don't know anything about what my coworkers did/didn't do, and you obviously know even less about the build process of an automobile.

You want a car that runs straight through the line and onto a car hauler? This ain't it. And you'd be hard pressed to find one. NOBODY can produce that quality in a 1200-per-day plant, bc there are just too many variables in the equation. Outside suppliers being the biggest. Can we build a car with imperfect parts? Sure! That's what the previous models were! And it was a dice-roll on what consumer reviews would be, and whether or not warranty claims would kill the model. That what you want?

Quite frankly, the tracking is what's causing the angst. Not the process. Furthermore, this is a launch. Not a model carryover. Wait 6 months and see how fast cars are built and shipped soon after. Again, there's just too much you don't understand to be spewing ignorance.

And I won't even go into the crap I've seen on here from you and some others about the workers. It's just not worth it, and this ain't the place for it.

If you're leary about us and what we build, then ask some of the ppl here who have received their Jeeps already what they think. (Unlike you, they have no bias.)

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to give out that info. You guys know I would if I could. But pm me some details and your VIN and I'll look for it in the morning.

Edit: I just looked at your sig.. If your truck is in the Charlevoix yard, I can't get to it.. It's no longer in the plant, or outside the door on final. Your truck is in the designated shipping yard next door, where most of the cars in the region are shipped from. Which means it should be shipping soon.

I second Major Toms comment thanking Chevyboy. My cashmere Summit was in paint this morning. My wife and I were discussing how long it usually takes to get to shipping, when I checked here and immediately had an answer. Actually is is almost indentical to Major Tom's Summit, so they are like sisters-twin sisters since I think they were built within a day of each other.

Mine was in paint yesterday and shipped per VOTS today. So at least they are cousins!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

ChevyBoy, I think you are getting a bit too defensive. If you have a problem with how people interpret things, then filter out the information you are providing. I understand you are not speaking in an official capacity as a factory employee, but you nevertheless represent the company.
