Activate the a/c?.. That's news to me. Especially considering all the functions are tested before they leave Final line, and aren't "deactivated."

Before mine shipped last year, I used to go over some days before/after the shift and just listen to the radio and play with everything.. By the time it got to the dealer, I had already paired my phone, and set all my presets.

I'm not sure about older models, but that's the first I've heard of that.

But yeah, those hideous dealer stickers. And I the car is off the truck(which my wife's car was) they had to remove the protective adhesives, polish/buff the car inside out.

I'm sure there more to it but a lot of the prep is electrical from demo to drive!

It is funny because over the years we ordered 2 Subarus. And all the setup I actually had to do it myself - tuning the sensitivity of the alarm module under the passenger seat; turning the alarm on; put my rubber mats inside and so on. They had the speech about the stickers so they just gave me cheap license plate holders with the dealer name. Fine. But they did drill holes in the Legacy front bumper and it was mounted slightly off center. And the worst was when the Forester came wet just out of the washing tunnel. The car just got its first swirls - none more visible than on a black car. I always wash my cars with the 2-bucket method. I am not very thrilled with dealer prep. as a billable charge.

Speaking of stickers and lettering. I hope Jeep's lettering like Limited 4x4 etc can be removed on the first hot day with dental floss ?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I reckon I can shed maybe a little light on dealer prep, I work for Enterprise rental and we get in new cars all the time, part of what we do is prep these things. Plenty of plastic wrap to pull off, antennas to put on, wheel/hub covers, license plate brackets-front and rear (TX), and making sure the tires are aired up enough to not make the freaking "tire low" light come on (lots of rental returns for that one-just put air in 'em!) and lots of them come in "transport" mode which needs to be switched off, it essentially doesn't allow too many drains on the battery while not being driven for long periods of time...aka transporting and sitting in vehicle transfer lots...then there's cleaning it up...so maybe a couple of hours, but not a day!

How do you switch from transport mode? If you were leaving a car unused for a long period of time, would you switch it back?

It's one more thing I've never heard of.

My dealer knows not to touch mine. They are putting the inspection sticker on it and that's it

I don't care if they put the sticker on, I can remove it in 4 minutes. However I would be furious if they drilled a front plate bracket onto the front just so they could put their stupid dealer plate on it. And I don't care if the dealer is in VA(or any other state where they are required), there are other ways of mounting a front plate that don't require drilling holes into the front bumper.

Are you bothered by the holes in the tailgate for the rear plate? Every screw in the car goes into a hole. If a license plate is required (not a dealer plate) what difference does it make if there are holes behind it?

I'm waiting for a front bracket to mount my beach permit. They are on back order. When it comes in, there will be 2 hole in my bumper.

B/C I myself, and a lot of other people who pay a ton of money for these cars, don't want an ugly ass and unnecessary(for me) black bracket that totally screws up the clean lines on the front of my white car. The screws and holes are not there from the factory like the rear plate, which is necessary. If I remove the bracket, that I don't want and don't need, then there are two holes, sometimes more depending on the make and model.

I was looking at a Boss 302 the other day. White and badass looking and the dealer had gone a screwed on the front plate bracket just so they could advertise their dealer name on it. Totally screwed up the front end of the car for me.

Buy A Sherry!!! Not only aplate but an awesome bracket to go with it!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I have to agree. The front plate makes the front end look bad especially the dealer branded ones. I told the dealer to leave mine off and only apply the rear, which they did even though California requires the front. They were still nice enough to give it to me, but put it in the spare tire cargo area. The front end looks so much cleaner without it.

Simultaneously press the "Front Defrost" and "List/Enter" buttons and hold for 5 seconds. The EVIC display will update once the vehicle goes into customer mode.

However, who knows what will happen once it's off the trailer (and if he's not around).

I once took my E320 CDI in for some maintenance (stupid airbag sensor was off its nut). The nice dealer took my car over to the fill station to top it off for me.

...only they put petrol in it.

It took them a week and a lot (I mean A LOT) of money for them to get it all cleaned out (as I had driven it and it had sucked petrol into the engine fouling everything along the way... tank, pumps, filters, lines, injectors.. the whole damn thing had to be ripped apart and cleaned/rebuilt.
