Hey, at least it gives us diesel guys something to do while waiting to order.
My dealer told me he should know more about the diesel today per his regional manager.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

It sounds like all signs pointing to Thursday for CRD ordering. Last I saw Millous said it was tentative...has that firmed up yet?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Are any of you CRD boys concerned about the biofuels being mixed into diesel and the problems with it voiding warranty ?

I'm not talking about "off the grid" loons who are making home brews of salad oil and putting it in their diesels - I'm talking about States who are mandating diesel fuels MUST make have a certain % of biofuels mixed in - here in NM it's a minimum of 5% but many stations have more.

VW is voiding all warranties on their TDI models for owners burning anything higher than B5 (a 5% biofuel mix).

Any thoughts or concerns as to how this will affect Jeep ?

If this question is not appropriate here or has been covered elsewhere, I apologize.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

VW is doing what now? I haven't heard of this... and I doubt that they can get away with it. I currently drive a diesel (335d) and I avoid B20 stations. There are enough plain old diesel stations around that don't have any. BMW recommends 5% or less of biodiesel. I think that the CRD can take up to 20%.

BTW, I was one of those loons making biodiesel from stuff. One time, we made some from Burt's Bees oils. My car (old TDI) exhaust smelled like flowers. It was cool...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The dealer I'm working with here in Seattle has been super awesome (and pretty twisted at the same time).

He knows I'm waiting to order the CRD, but has let me take various V6 and V8's out to play with the new features and such for entire days at a time.

I'm pretty sure I come back all twitchy and sweaty...

HOPING Thursday I can atleast get my order in so I can join the long and distinguished list of people waiting for their new rig.

That being said, I'm still confused how the Jeep CEO can say they will be on dealer lots in "a few weeks" unless there some secret factory somewhere that's been producing them all along.

As for the B5-B20 stuff.

I'm not too worried. The only real thing you will have to watch for if you do get higher Bio fuel values is your oil levels (higher the B value, more likely it will foul your oil).

Most stations here in my area sell B5-B10.... though a few are B20 and B50.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

My God in heaven take me now !!!!

My salesman called me first thing this morning and said they have a 2014 Summit delivered for another customer.

I couldn't get down there fast enough to look at it.

It's White with the deep Brown interior.

First off the interior is FREAKIN' GORGEOUS !!! The Brown is AWESOME. The suede pillars and headliner are color matching Brown and look incredible - way cool !!! The open grain wood gives the interior an amazing finish - the quality of the sound system was as good as I have heard ever in a car - the driver seat was very comfy - the steering wheel was thick and matched my big hands perfectly - lastly on the interior, the adjustments on the seat and steering wheel had an incredible range (most cars have a couple inches of movement in the telescope of the steering wheel - the Summit wheel came out at least 5 or 6 inches and up the same) I was very impressed sitting in this car.

Exterior - the White was beautiful !! It really showed off the unique Summit grill - the car was sitting next to a Black Overland and the grill diff was pronounced. The only thing I saw on the exterior that was news to me were the exhaust pipes - on the Summit, they are rectangular (not round) with one side on an angle - they looked like the VW Tuoareg exhausts - awesome !!!!

It was a beautiful car. I can't freakin' wait to get mine !!!
