Yikes! I just looked at the pricing. MSRP for Overland base is $8,000 more (OK, $7,900 more) than Limited base?! For 2013, it was just $3,400. I know that there's a lot more with the Overland, especially for 2014, but when I add the CRD it might be too much. Now I'm looking more seriously at a loaded Limited CRD. Goodbye, Indigo Blue/Jeep Brown. Hello, Light Frost.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Wow! What an awesome place for insight. I guess I’m glad I stumbled on this site after the revealing, because that features and changes thread would’ve sent my head spinning in circles with anticipation.

I have some questions and I apologize ahead of time for being a noob, as well as writing a lengthy post here, but I could really use your help. I might possibly also help some on here with their disappointments (if my figures are correct)

So far what I get from this is the following (my preferred build):

-Limited 4X4 (MSRP: $37,595+Dest: $995)
-Diesel (EXF), 8-Spd Trans (DFD) ($4,500, WOW!!!)
-Advanced Tech Group (ADG) ($1,695)
-Lux Group II (AHN) ($3,000, OUCH!!!)
-Off-Road Adv I (AWL) ($550)
-Trailer Tow IV (AHX) ($645)

Then, if I have this right, replacing RA3 with RA4 is an increase of $400 because RA3 is included with AHN. RA3 and RA4 are $395 & $795, so replacing RA3 with RA4 in AHN should be the difference; $400, correct? (good luck finding that caliber of NAV for less than $400 aftermarket...this is a good deal...and no one needs to hack/pirate)

Total: $49,380

This seems high at first but I think invoice pricing plus rebates and discounts should lower this significantly. Some guys here talk about invoice being 7% below MSRP, then dealing 1% below that (=$45,465...Much better, I’m in!!!). Let me know if I’m way off on those figures.
Also, maybe someone could let me know if this is a good deal:
I’m military stationed overseas so I can order through AAFES Exchange New Car Sales (ENCS). What they do is offer “exclusive” rebates. The MY14 rebate amount is not out yet but the average on prior MY GCs is about $3,000. I also get a Chrysler Loyalty discount of $500 (yes, my other car is a minivan...don’t hate). So, $49,380 - $3,500 = $45,880. And this is based on the MSRP provided here; we all know the final pricing, whether based on MSRP or invoice, will most likely drop some. I think it’s safe to say I could drive away at or below $45,000. If I’m correct on this, or pretty close, then I’m totally happy, but could a stateside dealer do better?

I know this is long and I’ll finish up here real quick.
3 more things:
Is the Copper console/trim a standard part of the Limited black interior? It looks like it on that pic in this thread.

Next: I figured from what I’ve read here so far that you cannot get Quadra-Drive II without Quadra-Lift. Is that correct? I do not want Quadra-Lift so if I were to consider an Overland, I would first need to know if Off-Road Adv I is an option on Overland.

Last but not least, and I’m sure I’ll catch some flak for this but...what’s so bad about Cashmere? I know it looks yellow on the jeep website but I compared it to the Chrysler paint sites referenced on this site and it’s identical to Sandstone and close to White-Gold. By looking at car pics with those colors, It’s basically Tan/Beige (does have that “pearl” effect in some light though) which IMO would be like a rugged desert-camo and the black windows, lower-grille, tires, plus all the chrome are a great contrast to beige (a slightly pearl/metallic beige, but definitely not old-man or mall-crawler yellow....right?) . Otherwise it’s Granite.....I wonder how many Granite GCs will be cruise’n around?

Just loaded up the Limited and added ORA II to the Overland and the difference in MSRP is $2,450. Looking forward to comparing the invoice-less 1%-pricing to really compare.

Although these photos are the limited they clearly show the correct size of tire for the OFF-Road Adventure II as well as the skid plates.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The MSRP pricing seems to align with the VW Touareg's; however, the pricing changes seem to alter the value equation -- significantly -- and not in jeep's favor. Will have to ponder, and maybe put off the purchase until next year's close-outs -- or go with the VW.

The CRD is a about $300 more than I expected, and $600 more than I'd hoped. I expected a loss leader the first year out for it. The psychological impact of seeing it's price over the V6... is striking -- but only psychological. Should have made the hemi base on higher trims to mitigate.

The math still works out for anyone owning it more than 2+ years driving over 15k miles per year. But...

The base MSRP on the Overland, combined with the limited color choices (compared to the last 2 years) on the inside -- kind of shocked me. Very VWish.

Hoping that Invoice is lower than 7%! (not expecting more than 5% though)

Rough day so please excuse the rambling. Couple of beers should help though!

Helluva first post... I won't even attempt to answer all the questions in here but I think your figures are generally in the ball park. I don't think AAFES will be able to compete with the 1% under invoice... Wait for the invoice numbers to get more accuracy though.

For me I think the GC is more Off-Road capable. Also, I need a vehicle to tow behind my motorhome; you can't to that with the Toureg, Q7 or Cayenne. I have had 2 Audis and 2 VWs.

Re: Pricing

Since pricing has not been officially announced it is **possible** that the figures listed in Post # 1 could change...

!!! I would advise to not make a buying decision based on these prices until official pricing is released !!!

I also looked at the VW Touareg and what I noticed right away is that in order to get their "driver assistance" package (Adaptive Cruise, Blind-spot, lane-departure...etc), and other add-ons to get you close to Jeep's Luxury & technology packages, you would have to get the VW "Executive" package. That on a TDI....HOLY $65,000 Batman. Not to mention it's off-road in-capability and sub-standard ground-clearance...oh, and good luck making it home from the trails on that "spare-tire".
