PenFed membership requires either being active or former military or a one-time donation to one of two military charities. I joined using the latter...a $20 deposit to PenFed and a $20 donation to the National Military Family Association (or something like that). Their current rate for both new and used is 1.74% for folks with good credit. They also offer .74% for folks that use their buying service, which if I'm not mistaken, is associated with TruCar. Even if one doesn't ultimately use a PenFed loan, being approved for one gives you leverage with the dealer. That's how I got my matching rate with Chase via the dealer and they still got a little something for printing out the paperwork.

If I remember correctly, DealerConnect didn't open up right away for the LuxII package when that became available, it was later in the day or the next morning even.

Maybe it's taking longer because they are lowering the price...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Just called my dealer, they are not able to enter a CRD order yet. They were aware production is scheduled for May, and said it may open tomorrow and they would check again tomorrow and call me.

I'm at a dealer now, kind of funny, there's a Chrysler rep here going over the new diesel with sales employees and they let me sit in since I already knew so much about it.

Anyway, still not available to order as of 11:31 eastern. Sales manager told me he'd keep checking throughout the day and let me know.

Were you able to discern where the urea tank is actually located by chance?

The penfed rates are very good,I may utilize them and get preapproved for the loan, how exactly does that get started and completed since I'm unfamiliar with them? I did check their buying service and after crunching the numbers they are a little higher then what seemingly can be achieved by some negotiations at the dealer I think they were like 46,636 for a 2014 overland with the advanced tech group and a V 8. Whether or not you can work that price down remains to be seen but that .74% is excellent for 60 or 72 months.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

It seems odd to me that they wouldn't just go ahead and take the orders for CRDs....even if they aren't going to run them down the line for awhile. It's not like they are giving a guaranteed delivery date at the time of order or anything.

Has anyone joined Tread Lightly lately? How long did it take to get your packet from them?

There are a host of other affiliates you might be a part of that get you access to PenFed -- for instance American Red Cross. If you donate blood, you should be able to join.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Dealer just called me, they just had their monthly allocation meeting with the Chrysler production team. They said CRD ordering is pushed out until the end of May. Poop. Very disappointing, but not surprised.
