Hey man we're glad you guys like em.. I don't see many in Max Steel with the black chrome wheels. I feel like I remember seeing your car.

And no lie, I'm so sleepy today after being up all night working on the semi, I came in this morning and had me a blonde moment. I was outside in the cold at about 4am, drinking my coffee and having a smoke, trying to wake myself up. Then a Deep Cherry Summit came around the corner and drove past, and for a minute my dumb butt actually thought it was John! ... Turns out it was just one of the higher ups coming in for work. #iknewthat

Any idea why this might be? The dealer thought it might be some kind of residual condensation from the build. he said to wait until monday, and if it was still there he would order new ones. Other than that, it also had a small scratch on the right front fender, and on the front bumper. Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

WSJ just did an article saying that Fiat has delayed release of the new Cherokee. The reason the WSJ gave is that Fiat had to slow the pace of retooling the Toledo Ohio plant, where the Cheorkee will be made, due to financial constraints. Their development and engneering budgets have also been cut. Europe is not doing well and this has hurt Fiats financial situation. I am wondering if this is a factor in the release of the CRDs. Chevy's marketing idea makes sense. Howver, I am wondering if they just don't want to spend the money to retool for the CRDs right now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Hey Guys...been lurking for a few weeks as a guest and decided to signup and jump in on the discussion. I'm a big diesel fan. My first diesel was a 1978 VW Rabbit as a kid then later an 85 6.2 Suburban (don't make fun, it was bullet-proof and 23mpg). I currently own an 83 Mercedes 300SD and a 2003 7.3L Eddie Bauer Excursion....both exceptionally reliable. My Excursion is a lifted 500HP 4x4 beast with lots of mods....so I am a performance diesel fan.

I am good buddies with the owner of a dealership and anxiously waiting for the order books to open. I've only owned one Jeep...a Cherokee 2D 2WD 4.0 HO "Sport". Sold it due to family needs for a 4 door. I probably wouldn't have bought another until the CRD option was announced. I tried to buy a JGC CRD 5 years ago with the Mercedes 3.0 motor but couldn't locate one at the time. The Liberty CRD intrigued me as well but was discontinued when EPA regs halted most diesel options for a few years.

So...I have standing orders with my dealership buddy to place an order ASAP for me, as follows: LIMITED in MAXSTEEL, LUX2, ORA2, 20's, Block Heater. Now I wait....

FYI, I use the "Build" wizard on Jeep.com daily to see if anything has changed and this morning I could pick 20" wheels with ORA2! This is new...they even removed the 18" wheel description from the ORA2 info. I for the life of me can't see the need for the Overland, when a loaded Limited is 6k less and has nearly all the features. I don't think I want the "Advanced Technology Group" unless someone here can talk me into it. From my list of vehicles you can see that I keep a vehicle for decades not years if it's reliable (hence the diesel fetish )...so gizmos don't always thrill me.

The JGC replaces an 2009 Murano LE AWD which is a company reimbursed vehicle. It's mandated that I get a new ride so I'm going to let my company buy me JGC CRD but I'm feeling the heat...I need to get one ordered!

My Murano averages 21.3mpg with > 70% highway...and has NEVER met it's EPA estimates. IMO Gas vehicles under-perform in efficiency estimates. All my diesels EXCEED their estimates and improve after break-in. I drive 30k+ a year and the diesel should pay for itself in 2-3 years easily....and I get to keep it after it leaves the company program.

Anyways, sorry for being long winded. This is the first vehicle I have been excited about since the Diesel Excursion. I'm impressed with the forum and it's great to see some factory guys on here as well.

So, I guess I'll be waiting along with you guys now.

They have been building the CRD for export for years already, all the retooling came already with the 2014 overall updates.

There is a very interesting vehicle in the employee lot.

It's most certainly new. And pea soup green.

Is that what you're talking about?

What do you mean by "just did an article"? Sergio talked about the financial constraints weeks ago. He didn't mention it having anything to do with the crd going into the Grand Cherokee.

Are you referring to an old article?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Fiat had nothing to do with the few week delay of the Cherokee.

It's gotta be good. That's the reason for the delay.

Here is a link to a March 23rd recap on AutoBlog. Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
I can't link to the WSJ article as only subscribers can open it. It is not "New" this week info. It is "New" for me as I just discovered the info this morning. Everybody has an idea, I thought I would share.

I understand that we have been "sending these to Europe for years". However, I do not believe (could be wrong) that this is the exact same GC that we have been sending. I believe that the urea system is unique to the US market and that the VM Motori CRD engine is highly modified for this release.

In addition, this is a market area that Jeep got burned in the last time they entered it. They only have so much money to spend on capital improvements and they have already delayed delivery on a different vehicle anticipated to sell 250,000 unitis (the Cherokee). I am just wondering how much it will cost to start CRD production, how sure they are that they are going to sell enough numbers, and if that is part of the reason for the delay.

I am new to this forum, but have been patiently waiting for the CRD since it was supposed to be released with the 2013s. I love the GC, keep my vehicles for many years, and think that diesel is the future. Gas is not going down in price over the long haul. If I keep this vehicle 10 years, which I likely will, I believe that I will be glad for purchasing the CRD. I just share everyone's impatience. Enough already, you have had a year to pair it with the new 8 speed, you have released the gas versions, open up for orders and be done with it.
