Years back not all cars came with carpets, many had vinyl flooring. In time everyone wanted carpet and newer ones were easier to clean. So almost every car had carpet. But it still got dirty so Rubbermaid and others started selling rubber mats to protect the carpet. They worked, but defeated the whole idea of having carpet. So finally, carpeted floor mats became a standard. They are there to protect the carpet, yet keep the look and feel of the original carpet. And they are washable with a pressure washer or at a self serve car wash.

Unless you walk around in oil every day, using the carpeted mats will allow you to keep the carpets like new for many years. Only the carpeted mats might need to be replaced once in a while. Any dirt that gets onto the main carpet will clean up with a spray cleaner and a vacuum. If they get wet from some excess snow it's unlikely to do any harm. They will dry pretty quickly with the hot air from the heater blowing around down there. Enjoy what you got, don't save it for the next guy.

Why the rant? Rubber car mats remind me of my ex mother-in-law's plastic covered living room furniture.

You must not be a duck hunter :-)

I drag all kinds of muck into my truck - then pressure wash my Weathertech mats after duck season.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

By the way, a big thanks to Milous for the tracking update. Jeep tracking still has me scheduled for production. And I hope Chevy and Marlon were both working Saturday. I'd feel a little bad if you guys didn't have some hands on time with my baby during the birthing process!

Yeah, I know. And I could understand a few days to fix things. But weeks? For some, more than a month? They build these in less than a day. It can't be they're waiting for parts; they have built and released identical vehicles since then. If it has that serious of a problem, build and ship a replacement.

I really do appreciate Chevy's info, and recognize he's going out on a limb to tell us as much as he has. But something just doesn't add up, Chrysler needs to step up here and be forthcoming with its customers.

Great minds....I was thinking of doing the same. Lloyd's has a dark brown that looks like it should match the brown Summit interior pretty close, then use a vinyl/rubber floor pan like Weathertech in the winter.

You know Chrysler will never tell customers why their vehicles are stuck in a certain spot of the system. We are more privileged than normal customers as we get this information.dealers might tell people 8-12 weeks for a vehicle so if your car is currently 4-5 weeks in, they are still within the that timeframe. Remember that JeeperJohn waiting almost 60 days for his Jeep in Inspection and couldn't be happier. Now why they can't just build a different one for the user in this time, no one will ever know. Got to take the good with the bad and just wait unless you cancel to find the car elsewhere.. I know it sucks, but it will be worth it in the end..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Last vehicle I ordered was the tsx that I'm trading in. That was a 3 1/2 month wait for it to be built and shipped over. 2 months for the Jeep will be nice.

Sno,

I hear you. And I do appreciate this site. I'm glad I found it and joined. But Chrysler does provide VOTS. And then holding vehicles in Inspection well beyond projected delivery dates without explanation is just guaranteed to irritate customers. Dealers can also see and confirm status, but apparently cannot get an explanation. In today's world of information, I think it's poor business practice. And while I'm happy for others for whom it has worked out, I'm about at the end of my rope. My current company vehicle is way over on miles and out of warranty. We're going to be forced to go another route. And, unfortunately due to fleet discount rules, we're told we can't just trade for a JGC on a dealer's lot.

Sorry for the grumbling. I recognize this is a personal, and fist world, problem. I'll shut up now,

KJF
