Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Was planning to lease an Overland Diesel, but the 50% residual (for 12k miles) is turning me off. I think the Limited is around 54%, maximizing the options on the Limited will get me pretty close to the Overland minus leather dash and trim panels. Since I wanted to get the offroad package anyways on the Overland, the 20inch wheels on Overland will be no value as it gets auto-downgraded to the 18 if you get the offroad package.

Any thoughts about the fully loaded diesel Limited (luxury, advanced tech, off-road 2) versus a diesel Overland?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Okay, tonight's funny:

Went to a dealership tonight to check out some Overland's - still deciding on white or granite.

Anyway, as we're sitting in the Overland I mention something along the lines of "the diesel is just right around the corner, huh?!" He replied, "it won't be available until October." haha, okkayyyy....

And then, even better, he mentioned for whatever reason something about the '13 SRT8. I said, "oh yea, do you guys have any '14 SRTs coming in yet?" to which he said, "no, and we're not even sure they're going to manufacture them. With so many 13s left it may be a year or more before they start getting made."

HAHAH! I so badly wanted to tell him how interesting that is, especially knowing that several folks on this very forum have already taken delivery of they '14 SRTs.

Un ... believable.

Sad but true. I think some here have reported that some dealers didn't even know the MY14's were out until some of us went to check them out :O

Well your dealer may be giving you the marketing line to make you buy off the lot. And if you could even remotely be interested in the old 2013 SRT that is burning virtual hole in their budget, he will try to sell it to you.

But again, they are partially right: a quick inventory search on Jeep's website shows that within a 25 mile radius of down town Chicago there are still plenty of SRT8 including Alpine and Vapor trims.
Ziegler - 3
Fields - 4
Larry Roesch - 2
Sherman - 2
Napleton - 2
Hawk - 1

I am not so sure any of these dealerships are eager to order SRTs to just sit on the dealership lot. The market is so much smaller for the SRTs vs. the Laredos (mostly) , Limiteds and Overlands. They will order a 2014 for you from the factory but maybe limit themselves to 1 2014 if any, until the clear the old stock. But they are still not discounted them enough.

That's close to what I'm doing. The if you want the CRD in the Overland you also have to purchase the tech package... the LuxII is required on the limited with the CRD. Since I was waffling between the Overland and Limited myself but didn't really want the tech package my decision kind of got made for me.

There was a thread a couple weeks back on Overland vs. Limited. I'm going the Limited route myself and saving a few thousand dollars.
2012 Overland or 2014 Limited?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I am still trying to find out what residuals and money factors are. I mean, I've been able to glean it from the Internet but I've asked 3 dealers directly what they are and they refuse to tell me. They dance around the issue throwing out nonsense to avoid saying. It's frustrating and frankly a little disgusting that we consumers don't seem to have the right to know this information.

That's a very helpful link and I'm sure it'll be something anyone who is thinking of leasing will get lots from. I don't trust salespeople one bit but the difficulty in finding out the residual and MF is ridiculous. It'd be like them hiding my interest rate in a loan payment. That's nuts.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Just had confirmation that the dealer placed the order for my "new" GC Limited with LUX II. (I changed my mind on the first that didn't have it - those following know the story). Interesting...they said the debated CD option was no longer on the available list when it was placed on Friday - that certainly helps the decision. Anyone confirm that it was pulled or just no part availability?

Are you sure you read the whole thing? It tells you where to look for residual values and what to do about financing. Federal truth in lending laws requires them to disclose interest rates. Like I said earlier, if you want the answers you have to do the work to get them. If you want to be spoon fed, you'll be eating gruel.
