I know how you feel! When I bought my first new car, back in the stone (or should I say "stoned") age circa 1968, I went to a local carpet store and scored a couple carpet samples to put down and protect my floor.

i went to a dealer over the weekend to compare the summits vs the overland. i looked them over as they were in the back parking lot, and amazingly no salesman came out to talk to me. after a few minutes i went in to the showroom and was met by a salesman. i explained to her how i'm pretty sure i want to order a crd when it's possible, i just didn't know if i want a overland or a summit. she seemed to be new and didnt know a whole lot about the differences. i asked her if i could set inside each of them to compare, so she went to get the keys. amazingly she couldn't find the keys for the summit, so she took me to a different overland. we got in, started it up, and i look around the inside. i asked her if it was a 2013, and she stated that it was. i turned it off and asked if i could look at a 2014, and if she could find the key to the summit. she came back and told me that somebody was looking at purchasing that summit, so it was unavailable. i stated, well what if i wanted to buy that, but didn't push the issue, since i really didn't. after looking at the overland, her manager came over and asked me how i liked it. i stated that it was good, but i'm waiting for the crd. he stated that it's going to be a long time before that's available. i stated that it hopefully will be available to order in may with delivery in july, and he stated, well yes that's true. i told him my ram is great, and i don't need a veh now, i'll wait for the crd. long of the short, i can't imagine how many people unknowingly are getting pushed into 2013's over the 2014's without knowing about it.

And then, even better, he mentioned for whatever reason something about the '13 SRT8. I said, "oh yea, do you guys have any '14 SRTs coming in yet?" to which he said, "no, and we're not even sure they're going to manufacture them. With so many 13s left it may be a year or more before they start getting made."

HAHAH! I so badly wanted to tell him how interesting that is, especially knowing that several folks on this very forum have already taken delivery of they '14 SRTs.

Un ... believable.
Which dealer was this at? If it was at CDJ, I'd only deal with Dave.

I've noticed that even within a given dealership, the "quality" of the sales force varies heavily.

Most of the guys at CDJ are pretty clueless.

For example, *I* had to explain to the sales guys the differences between QT2 and QD2 (and on what packages it's available). The response was "What's an E-Diff?" *ARG!* Followed by "I'm pretty sure we can get that installed here at the dealership."

I suspect it's the same at most dealerships. You get one or two guys that do their homework, the rest just make crap up.

Car dealers are only one limb above lawyers on the evolutionary tree.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

It may be unusual, but my dealer was just the opposite. After having a salesmen take me for test drives in several '13 Overlands and Limiteds back in early February, I talked to the sales manager, who told me I might want to wait for the '14 to be available. He then proceeded to explain all the upgrades in great detail. The salesman called me the morning they took delivery of their first '14 so I could come over and test drive it. I ordered my '14 that day. So far its been a great experience with them.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I did but I didn't see where to find actual rates. We know that car companies subsidize leases, for example, and I want to know those numbers. Anyway, I'm going to keep going til I get several numbers that confirm one another before I accept it as truth. And I'll probably end up buying anyway but I like to know all my options.

Quite the opposite. It's a Nissan Murano that has been bullet proof; it has had no problems at all. I'm just dealing with company policy that is based on trade-in values, risk, etc, across the fleet.

No change in status again today.

No change in my status today either.

I looked at Muranos. I really liked the car's exterior (very nice, not a Summit, but nice). It was the headroom that got me - not enough. So, I tried the Pathfinder - plenty of room there - nice interior, but the exterior is butt ugly plain to me.

Actual rates (interest) will vary from lease company/bank to lease company and will be dependent on your credit score, just like interest rates on a purchase. Jeep is giving dealers $500 for placing leases with local banks.

Have you tried using Google to find some lease companies and then call them?

Same here....and an added bones is, as of 3 days ago, they removed the 18" wheel requirement for ORA2 on Limited! A fully loaded Limited CRD minus the Adv Tech (like in my SIG) is 49975 with 20's, 48880 with 18's. The Overland is around 5600 more with identical options....and no 20's with ORA2. That's a lot for wood trim and matching fender lips.
