You will have to pay license, title and tax on any vehicle you buy, so the issue is getting the best deal possible before that stuff.

For comparison, how much better did you do on your Jeep ?

Many people here paid 1% Below Invoice.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I'm doing a five hour ride to do the deal in DC. Totally worth it. Not trading anything in though... probably going to have to rent a car to drive down or something.

The biggest number is the one you negotiate BEFORE license title and taxes. What was the invoice on that vehicle before any convo took place?

Payments and license won't be a problem. I haven't seen the invoice, it's all based on the prices I saw at the first page here. What I do have is a copy of the window sticker with price and the price they are willing the let the car go...

2014 Summit 4x4 V8

MSRP: $53,690
Destination: $ 995
Total: $54,685

Dealer Invoice: $50,735
Destination: $ 995
Total: $51,730

I still say any negotiated price below $50,000 (+ Fees) is Very Good without having any type of Group Buy and for not having to pay for an Affiliate program.

Also, did any of the DC'ers trade in anything ? (Didn't read it all)
I think they thought about it but Koons was lowballing on trades. Not surprising given the great deal.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

They key is... don't become emotionally invested with a rig.

If you can find exactly what you want, but the dealer won't budge. Leave, go talk to other dealers. If you can work out a deal with them that meets your price point, they can have a rig swapped from another dealer, or traded while in transit.

And honestly, anything greater then 1% under invoice is a decent deal.

Depending on where you are, there are group buys going down (7% under invoice in DC, the $1,750 under invoice Colorado deal, the 3% Seattle deal to name a few).

The only thing to be aware of when buying a vehicle out of state is if your state has Lemon laws. Be aware that by buying out of state, you may lose that protection.

Have you negotiated a below invoice price with them?? Are you only accepting their numbers trusting that they will protect your financial interests. Negotiate negotiate negotiate wherever you go. It's your money so try to keep as much of it in your pocket as possible and be willing to walk and talk to other dealers make them EARN your sale as they should. Don't buy into that this is a very hot vehicle b. s. !!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

none negotiation was done yet. Guys was pretty bummed that he had to take out the car from the truck to show me... couldn't even tell me the price at the time! So this morning he sent me an email with window sticker and the price they will sell the car!

I might still have some room for freebies, accessories or something like that... my question was really if this is a good start point or I was just being ripped off! Guys isn't even trying to make a sell, don't even have my phone number! This is their first offer, in the meantime I will shop around and see what others have to offer.

I did like the car, it's a black/black summit 4x4 v8 and it looks nice! they also have a red/brown coming in which he would sell for a little more since it has a cd player, but the same discount would apply according to him!

Well then that is a Great starting point "before" negotiation.

To give you an idea.....my Best Price at 3 Dealers is now $51,250 and that's after 2 Hours of Tense Negotiating at each !!

What State are you in ?

I would at least get them to do a years worth of oil changes and through in a full set of mopar slush mats (front, middle and back). Not much really to them. Even if you plan on getting Husky or Weathertech down the road, I would at least do that. I was able to get that along with 5% below invoice.
